Responsibilities

Program and Position Description:

This program provides SETA (Systems Engineering Technical Advisor) & SE&I (Systems Engineering & Integration) services to an IC customer with a focus on acquisition and operations of a system providing assured space communications and supporting IT infrastructure. The contract support is part of the customer core team focused on all aspects of the systems life cycle including CONOPS development, capturing requirements, working with developers to deliver capability, testing to ensure capabilities meet requirements, transition to operations and operations support. The program also supports innovations/technology development, provides acquisition and project management support to government program managers. As an junior/entry level position, on the job training will be provided by co-workers and team leads to ensure appropriate level assignments are provided to ensure success.

Standard position description:

  • Works on assignments requiring good judgment and initiative.
  • Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope following detailed instructions.
  • Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
  • Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics.
  • Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.
  • Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
  • Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.
  • Designs interfaces and brings system elements together, so they work as a whole.
  • Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.
  • Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
  • Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
  • Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
  • Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

Specific position description:

This position provides systems engineering and project management support to the government customer, participating in many different aspects of the engiineering life cycle. Initially the focus will be to supporting the customer's Engineering Division by managing the Office's Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). This will provide a good introduction to project management and an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the many different mission systems this customer provides to their stakeholders and users. After 6 to 12 months, there will be an opportunity to transition to another part of the program to gain additional experience and skills focused on other aspects of systems acquisition and systems engineering. Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is a growing need for this customer and this position will include the opportunity to support the MBSE efforts as we transition to a digital engineering toolset over the next couple years.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be have and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Poly
  • 2 to 4 years relevant experience with BS. 0 to 2 years with MS
  • Technical degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree.
  • The ability to work well within a team of engineers.

Desired:

  • Some familiarity with MS Project for maintaining project schedules
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Prior experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Knowledge of RF based satellite communications.
  • Knowledge of satellite theory and principles.
