Responsibilities
Program and Position Description: This program provides SETA (Systems Engineering Technical Advisor) & SE&I (Systems Engineering & Integration) services to an IC customer with a focus on acquisition and operations of a system providing assured space communications and supporting IT infrastructure. The contract support is part of the customer core team focused on all aspects of the systems life cycle including CONOPS development, capturing requirements, working with developers to deliver capability, testing to ensure capabilities meet requirements, transition to operations and operations support. The program also supports innovations/technology development, provides acquisition and project management support to government program managers. As an entry/junior level position, on the job training will be provided by co-workers and team leads to ensure appropriate level assignments are provided to ensure success. Standard position description:
- Works on assignments requiring judgment and initiative.
- Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope following detailed instructions.
- Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
- Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics.
- Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.
- Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
- Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.
- Understands interfaces and brings system elements together, so they work as a whole.
- Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
- Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.
- Participates in operations conops development.
- Participates in readiness reviews of new capabilities to ensure the operations organization is prepared to successfully transition the systems into operations.
- Generates system level operations requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
- Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
Standard position description: This position is focused on the mission operations role and is located at a customer facility in Springfield, VA. While supporting mission operations, you will:
- Become familiar with 24x7 mission operations activities
- Become a subject matter expert in several mission systems.
- Lead anomaly resolution activities to address mission outages.
- Support testing and readiness events to integrate new capabilities into the system.
- Work with end users to become familiar with the systems and understand their requirements.
- Generally support the Mission Operations government team in all operations related activities.
- Lead mission operations division projects and process improvement efforts.
Qualifications
Required:
- Must have and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Poly
- 0 to 2 years relevant experience with BS, or 4 years relevant experience with HS
- The ability to work well within a team of engineers.
- Prior experience with mission operations support involving space systems.
Desired:
- Experience with Commercial/Government acquisition of satellite/ground segment hardware/software or satellite based communications field set/radio hardware/software.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science.
- Prior experience with RF based satellite communications including operations support
