Responsibilities
The AI Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide technical expertise and support to the client's training center in the development of AI training content, strategic planning, and partnership development. The AI SME will work closely with the chief of the training school and other team members to identify training needs, develop training content, and stay up to date with industry advancements in AI.
- Meeting with client and IC partners to document and define training needs and requirements
- Collaborating with Instructional System Designers (ISD) and Project Managers (PMs) to develop technical content for AI training programs that align with client's mission to empower officers with top-notch digital acumen and AI-focused learning
- Providing expertise in AI to support the development of training content, including traditional in-person learning, web-based training, micro-learning series, and industry/academic speaker engagements that cater to the diverse needs of clients and IC officers
- Keeping abreast of technological advancements in AI to develop timely and relevant training content for client officers, ensuring they are equipped to tackle mission challenges with AI-enhanced solutions
- Assisting with student responses for AI courses - including discussion posts, assignments, and capstone exercises - and developing AI-related blogs and micro-learning series that support AILC's goal of building an AI-ready workforce.
- Assisting in the development of competency maps to identify the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for client and IC partners to perform their jobs effectively.
- Contributing to the development of AILC's multi-year strategic plans for AI training and education, aligning with the organization's vision of defining and teaching critical knowledge and skills needed to harness the power of AI
- Working with other training school personnel at other locations to identify industry partners to showcase new AI technologies and provide technical support for conducting engineering pilots and proof of concepts with client groups
- Collaborating with the client team to identify and evaluate emerging AI technologies, and develop plans for integrating these technologies into client operations
Qualifications
- Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline
- BS 12-15, MS 10-13, PhD 8-10
- Ability to fully coordinate master project schedules
- Ability to coordinate information flow between all programs and organizational managers
- Ability to establish functional and technical specifications and standards, solve hardware and software interface problems, define input/output parameters, and ensure integration of the entire system or subsystem
- Provides a total systems perspective including a technical understanding of relationships, dependencies, and requirements of hardware and software components
- Strong knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts, including deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders and technical experts
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including instructional designers, project managers, and technical experts
- Ability to stay up-to-date with industry advancements in AI and apply that knowledge to the development of training content

- Ability to test and evaluate hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility, with existing systems
- Identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system
- Ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment
- Ability to coordinate with engineers, systems analysts, programmers, technicians, scientists, and top-level managers in the design, testing, and evaluation of systems
- Experience working in a training or education environment, developing and delivering training content to technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
- Experience with developing and delivering training content in a variety of formats, including in-person, online, and micro-learning
- Knowledge of AI ethics, bias, and fairness, and experience with developing and implementing AI solutions
- Experience working with industry partners to identify and evaluate AI technologies, and developing plans for integrating these technologies into operational environments
- Experience using AI-related tools and technologies within the client space
- Familiarity with data science and analytics concepts, including data visualization and statistical modeling
