Contract Copywriter
This is a 3-year, full-time (40 hours/week), hybrid contract role based in Raleigh or Charlotte, NC, with an in-office presence required 3 days per week.
Summary
This role supports strategic copywriting and content development for customer-facing marketing and advertising initiatives. You will craft compelling messaging across digital and print channels to build customer engagement and trust, especially in areas related to sustainability and renewable energy.
Our Ideal Candidate
5+ years of professional copywriting or marketing content experience
Passion for storytelling, clean energy, and audience engagement
Proficient in creating content for a variety of channels including web, email, social media, and video scripts
Familiar with sustainability messaging and high-level energy-related concepts
Skilled in collaborating with art directors, marketing managers, and other creative professionals
Able to work independently and prioritize a high volume of creative projects
Flexible and adaptable to client feedback and evolving campaign goals
Strong written and verbal communication with excellent editing skills
Portfolio of writing samples demonstrating versatility and impact across media
Job Description
In this role, you will concept and write high-impact marketing and advertising content that connects with target audiences and supports campaign objectives.
You'll partner with designers, strategists, and internal stakeholders to develop creative solutions that bring brand messaging to life across multiple platforms. This includes:
Writing digital and print content for emails, direct mail, social media, video, digital display, radio, and more
Collaborating with the art director to brainstorm ideas and develop creative directions
Presenting content concepts to internal stakeholders and refining based on feedback
Managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Supporting campaign development from ideation through final production
Tailoring voice and tone to align with brand guidelines and customer expectations
You'll play a key role in ensuring that messaging remains consistent, creative, and effective-especially in communicating sustainability and energy-related initiatives.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field preferred
Minimum 5 years of professional copywriting experience
Experience working with creative teams or agencies
Prior experience in energy, sustainability, or environmental communications is a strong plus
A strong writing portfolio is required at the time of application
The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $41.55 - $42.50 per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
