Essential Job Responsibilities:
Summary/Objective:
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for tracking inventory and stock changes over, specifically for cargo containers. The daily duties will include overseeing inventory control, managing deliveries, inspecting inventory, maintaining inventory records, and entering data and running reports.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Physical Yard Inventory
* Run all dray reports of containers sorted to come over to yards on a daily basis
* Physically check to see if all containers on the list (reports) were accounted for
* Physically take count of all containers in all yards and provide space counts when needed
* Update the Mainsail system with all locations for each container per each yard
* Send full inventory reports to all terminal management and internally upon completion of all the above
* Data Entry
* Update systems to reflect any changes (such as locations, out-gates, chassis info, delete transactions etc)
* Prepare reports from data entry systems with high accuracy to give to customers.
* Collect and enter ticketing information into Excel with formula created to find the estimated time of complete out-gate per container.
* Customer Service
* Assist customer service window during inventory down time
* Out-gate containers per customer visit (checking if all trucker info is correct, and properly registered) and print interchanges for each transaction
* Answer phones/emails and assist with availability information
* Research customer inquiries on containers
* Scheduling/processing flips for outside carriers
* Ensure fee is paid, trucker paperwork is correct, and flip is completed in order to complete transaction
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
* Thorough knowledge or principles of terminal operations.
* Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record to use company vehicles
* Knowledge and understanding of cargo stowage and stability strongly desired.
* Requires problem solving skills to respond quickly and effectively to operational issues
* Requires the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment and be available to work varied hours and days
* Requires the ability to communicate effectively with workforce and other staff
* Requires the ability to analyze and trouble shoot operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Work environment:
* Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings and nights.
* Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures of hot and cold, extremely dusty conditions and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise.
* The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment
* The ability to drive 50%
* The ability to operate various types of equipment.
