Job Summary:



The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor - Biostatistician position within the clinical teaching track. This position will reside within the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics and the Center for Innovative Design and Analysis (CIDA).

The position involves teaching in the biostatistics graduate program and collaborations with anesthesiology and emergency medicine clinician scientists and involves integration of GWAS and imaging data. This faculty member is expected to develop a reputation as a team scientist in a particular area of biomedical or health research.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Teach one course to graduate students in the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics
  • Mentor Department students and junior faculty members who support collaborative research
  • Develop a collaboration research portfolio that includes involvement in preparation of grant applications, analyses, and publication of data generated from funded studies.
  • Establish themselves as a national leader in the practice of biostatistics and as a team scientist.





Work Location:



Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • Doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, DrPH) in biostatistics/statistics or equivalent quantitative discipline
  • 1 course of classroom teaching as instructor or teaching assistant
  • 4 years of collaborative biostatistics experience in an academic research setting.
  • Experience working in anesthesiology.
  • Experience conducting GWAS analysis.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Two or more years of In-person and/or remote teaching experience as instructor
  • Experience managing multiple collaborations simultaneously.
  • Evidence of ability to conduct statistical methods work in an area.
  • Evidence of ability to secure collaborative grant funding as co-investigator.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Developing educational materials and practices such as courses, presentations, and/or publication of innovative teaching methods
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate appropriately with diverse audiences
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of advanced statistical principles relevant in medical research
  • Advanced programming skills in a common statistical software package (such as SAS, R, python, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches.
  • Good organizational skills across individual projects, managing own workload
  • Positive attitude and the ability to work with biomedical investigators and colleagues in CIDA and the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics
  • Ability to contribute to the growth and development of CIDA and the Department
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$120,000 to $150,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
