The Lead Talent Acquisition Specialist role supporting the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) is an introductory leadership position designed to provide rising leaders with experience managing a small team of 1-2 individual contributors. This role is aligned with the dynamic and innovative environment of a leading digital publisher and newspaper, with a strong emphasis on technical recruiting to support our digital transformation. The Lead will:

  • Manage full lifecycle recruitment for senior-level technical and digital media positions within the AJC, ensuring alignment with AJC's evolving technology and innovation goals
  • Oversee one or two recruiters, providing mentorship and guidance, particularly in technical sourcing strategies, candidate evaluation, and pipeline development.
  • Monitor team performance, providing insights and recommendations to improve recruitment processes.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on technical talent market trends, compensation benchmarks, and competitive intelligence within the media tech space.
  • Represent Atlanta Journal-Constitution at industry conferences, maintaining a strong employer presence and showcasing our culture, values, and opportunities to build passive talent interest.
  • Partner with Early Talent teams to drive, execute, and support programs or events.
  • Collaborate with operations to implement process changes that support AJC's clients.
  • Work with recruiting/sourcing and brand management teams to initiate campaigns or events to attract talent in the media and publishing sector.
  • Partner with the Candidate Experience team to influence processes or tactics based on trend analysis and market expertise.
  • Drive candidate engagement from interview to offer, create interview guides, and oversee the selection and recycling of silver medalists.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6+ years of experience in talent acquisition. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years' experience in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge and working experience with an ATS and CRM (e.g., Workday, SuccessFactors, Beamery, Greenhouse).
  • Experience in recruiting, sourcing, and candidate engagement in a professional, corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams through collaboration and consultative skills.
  • Strong client-service orientation and proven ability to partner with business leaders to drive talent acquisition.
  • Experience managing sensitive and/or confidential information.


Preferred:

  • Previous talent acquisition experience within the media tech, digital publishing, or SaaS industry.
  • Proven success in recruiting for technical roles such as software engineering, data science, DevOps, cybersecurity, and product management.
  • Knowledge of the editorial landscape and current social media recruiting practices.
  • Understanding of agile development environments, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and digital product lifecycles.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and organize workload in a constantly changing environment to meet deadlines.


Work Environment:

  • This role is based in Atlanta, GA. This is a hybrid position requiring presence at our brand new, Midtown Atlanta office at least twice a week.


USD 99,000.00 - 165,000.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $99,000.00 - $165,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
