Analytical Chemist Technician

Momentive Quartz Technologies is seeking an Analytical Chemist Technician to perform high-precision testing on high-purity sand and quartz materials used in advanced technologies. You'll conduct routine and advanced analyses using ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, UV-VIS, FT-IR, and particle size techniques in an ISO 9001-certified lab. The role includes sample preparation, instrument calibration, handling hydrofluoric and other acids, and cutting and polishing quartz samples. A strong focus on safety, documentation, and quality standards is essential to success in this role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical testing of high-purity sand and quartz samples in accordance with ISO 9001 procedures (e.g. ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, UV-VIS, FT-IR, particle size analysis)

  • Handling of hydrofluoric and other inorganic acids

  • Responsible for sample preparation and testing, instrument and equipment calibration

  • Responsible for quartz sample cutting and polishing

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all company EHS procedures

  • Maintain/complete test logs, repeatability studies, and test data

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree

  • Entry level experience (0 - 2 years)

  • Familiarity with chemical laboratory equipment and operations

  • Demonstrated emphasis on laboratory environment safety

  • Ability to work as a solid contributor within a team environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient computer and Microsoft Office skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related field

  • Familiarity with ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, UV-VIS, FT-IR, particle size analysis a plus

  • Familiarity with quartz/glass sample preparation (diamond saws and polishing equipment)

  • Knowledge of fused quartz and semiconductor industry is desirable

  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement/5S/LEAN 6-Sigma a plus

Key Relationships:

  • Interacts with Technology team members, internal customers

Travel Requirements:

  • None

Working Conditions:

  • Day shift 8 am to 4 pm, chemical laboratory environment

  • PPE as required in restricted areas
