Description

The Title Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient operations within the title company and effective communications with the Reseda and Credit Union teams. They oversee title staff, while directly managing escrow accounts and reporting. The Title Manager should use their expertise in mortgage closing and title insurance and skills in relationship building to ensure the organization consistently sees a high volume of optimal closings, efficient operations, and profitability.

Work Arrangement - This position is a 100% onsite position located within our MSUFCU 311 Abbott building in East Lansing, MI.

An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. MSU Federal Credit Union may or may not be able to accommodate temporary or permanent changes to work arrangements or allow employment outside the city and/or state of residency in which the new hire resides at the time of offered employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for managing the daily operations of the Crescent Title Agency.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assists in establishing performance goals for the organization and for each staff member, as appropriate. Guides staff in developing action plans to reach stated goals.
  • Sets goals and objectives for assigned teams for achievement of operational and strategic results.
  • Cultivates strong working relationships and builds trust among team members.
  • Develops sales and marketing plans to insure steady stream of title closings.
  • Works closely with Mortgage Department staff to promote seamless and efficient mortgage closings.
  • Communicates with borrowers, lenders and others relating to Crescent Title Agency to facilitate smooth transactions.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with realtors and others to establish and maintain Crescent Title Agency customer base.
  • Responsible for maintaining policies and procedures related to Crescent Title Agency and insuring staff follows same.
  • Recommends new products or procedures to optimize transactions and enhance operations.
  • Reviews and recommends new methods and procedures to make daily operations more efficient.
  • Responsible for escrow account maintenance; and preparing the deposits of the Agency's income checks.
  • Deals directly with outside vendors in the daily operation of Crescent Title Agency.
  • Handles the most complex and involved closing transactions.
  • Responsible for various monthly reports, such as month-end report to CUSO leadership; closing report to auditing; closed transaction reports, etc.
  • Performs considerable short-term planning, scheduling, and coordinating within area of responsibility.
  • Assists with department budget development, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Assists with regulatory compliance to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with applicable laws and government regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting area of expertise.
  • Attends educational events that will increase professional knowledge and be otherwise beneficial to the Title Company.
  • Completes annual BSA/AML compliance training and understands employee's role in maintaining an effective BSA/AML compliance program, and completes FACT Act Red Flag training
  • Understand policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accountability for managing operational risks. Adhere to established internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and maintain the integrity of credit union operations.
  • Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a business-related field or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Current State of Michigan Title Insurance Agents License required.
  • Progressively responsible work experience in the areas of mortgage closing and title insurance, preferably to include time as a title insurance escrow officer
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities.
  • Must be dependable, self-motivated, and require minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills, problem solving skills, and acute attention to detail.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:



  • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
  • Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
  • This position requires onsite presence at the employee's assigned location for all scheduled shifts.
