Administers technically advanced computerized access control and picture identification systems for Mercyhealth. Functions as a subject matter expert on all access control matters and inquiries for the Lenel and/or Genetec systems. Performs Administrative Assistant duties for the Security Department. Periodically required to be on-call nights and weekends for access control issues.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides access and ID services for internal and external customers.
  • Must maintain accurate records of partners, physicians, contractors, vendors, and students, who have access to a Mercyhealth facility via the card access system.
  • Ensures proper access and restrictions for all persons entered into the access control system.
  • Organizes and maintains data contained in the current access control system (i.e. terminations, alarm codes, vehicle details, employee positions and contractor validation.)
  • Ensures alarm codes are assigned correctly and functioning properly.
  • Ensures that building alarms and duress alarms within the access control systems are functioning properly.
  • Works with multiple contractors to ensure access system is functioning properly. Identifies reported problems involving customer's cards, and or abilities to access locations in the Mercyhealth system.
  • Responsible for trouble shooting system software errors, including alarm codes and access level clearance codes, for the access system.
  • Troubleshoots hardware issues and performs light maintenance and repair of system hardware.
  • Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of programming protocols for the access system (i.e. alarms,doors, access methods, and levels.) Programs doors, time zones and control zones.
  • Works with IMS to resolve network and system performance concerns. Coordinates with them for server issues, updates, changes, and general software issues.
  • Consults with IMS to resolve card reader malfunctions, door contact events and other hardware failures.
  • On occasion, will serve in on-call status nights and weekends for access control issues. Must be available by phone to answer questions and may have to respond to a work site as needed. Must have access to internet to do remote troubleshooting.
  • Answers phone calls that come into the department, takes messages and refers to other departments as appropriate.
  • Accurately compiles and distributes information in a timely manner.
  • Organizes and prioritizes tasks to accomplish meeting established deadlines.
  • Periodically assist in scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and other materials for meetings. Makes necessary arrangements, and notifies attendees. Compose, type, and distribute meeting minutes, routine correspondence and other related materials.
  • Prepare, process, and/or distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Works in Kronos time keeping system.
  • Track and maintain statistics for Valet service, morgue releases, and security notices for unsecured doors.
  • Track and maintain statistical records for parking violations. Responsible for sending notices to Managers/Directors/H.R. when a partner receives a notice of parking violation.
  • Responsible for ordering office supplies and maintaining inventory.
  • Responsible for processing bills for payment and maintaining budget records.
  • Responsible for filing of all paperwork generated within the Department.
  • Keeps Security Manager and Supervisor aware of pertinent issues and information warranting their knowledge, action and/or resolution.
  • Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, team oriented, customer focused and professional attitude

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required. Previous access control experience preferred.

Certification and Licensure

Certification by Lenel to contact their technical support preferred.

Certification by Genetec to contact their technical support preferred.

Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance

Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy.

Special Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to sit, to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include frequent close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. The position requires occasional vision abilities of color vision, and depth perception. This position requires occasional climbing, bending, crouching, crawling, kneeling, balancing, twisting, push/pull, lift/carry, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
