THE ROLE: Senior Accountant, Sales & Marketing

Perform general accounting, reporting and analysis functions and special projects for the Sales & Marketing business areas for A+E Global Media brands A&E, History, Lifetime, FYI, Crime & Investigation, History, History en Espanol, Military History Channel, Lifetime Movie Network, Lifetime Real Women, ViceTV, as well as the Company's digital and international outlets. This position acts as the primary accounting liaison with the Sales & Marketing budget managers and divisional finance partners of A+E Global Media.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Collect and review high volume of accrual submissions from the budget managers of the Sales & Marketing sub-departments within Ad Sales, Affiliate Sales, Consumer Marketing and Research business areas; work with them to reconcile accrual tracking spreadsheets that are utilized to book monthly accruals. Ensure all accruals are in compliance with US GAAP and the Company's accounting policies, the account coding are correct and accrual spreadsheet issues are resolved. Book all monthly accrual and adjusting journal entries during close processes and when required for manager's review.

  • Prepare monthly financial reporting which includes P&L schedules, operating and G&A expense reports, as well as other reports when required periodically for manager's reviews. Provide analysis of variances between actual versus budgeted/forecasted results during monthly financial closes to the budget managers and request explanation of material variances, collect and review explanations ensuring clarity and accuracy, document all material variances or issues on P&L schedules and reports. Document variance explanations between actual versus budgeted/forecasted results and actual versus prior year results for manager's review.

  • Facilitate periodic review meetings with operational directors and finance liaisons. Produce and distribute monthly reports to discuss results for the period and address pertinent issues in a timely fashion.

  • Perform monthly and quarterly detailed balance sheet and G&A account analysis for manager's review.

  • Support ad hoc reporting and client support when necessary; Interact and correspond with a high volume of operational clients within these business areas which include budget/line managers, department coordinators, finance department liaisons and mid-level to senior executives.

  • Utilize tools (including ChatGPT and/or other available automated tools) to address process and procedural concerns with manager to ensure efficiencies are being exploited and implemented.

  • Facilitate quarterly forecasts and annual budget processes with the Finance partners of the sub-departments. Prepare various forecast and annual budget P&L schedules and other reports which highlight the quarterly or annual budget changes.

  • Provide accounting training to clients and liaisons when needed as it relates to A+E business areas, ensuring transactions conducted by the Sales & Marketing sub-departments or between other internal A+E departments are in adherence to GAAP and in accordance with A+E Global Media's policies and procedures.

  • Provide support to Manager, Sales & Marketing, and leadership in F&A Department, as well as the overall team on ad-hoc projects when needed.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Accounting and minimum of 3-5 years of corporate industry experience in accounting or auditing required.

  • Experience working in TV broadcast, entertainment or media industries is highly desired.

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills including proficiency in the creation and use of pivot tables and other functions are required. A good working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.

  • A working knowledge of SAP environments ECC and BPC required.

  • Candidate should have a strong general accounting procedure knowledge, ability to independently analyze financial results and can establish accounting and analytical procedures.

  • Candidate should have excellent communication skills, both written and oral which includes a strong ability to articulate and present financial data & procedures to non-financial individuals.

  • Candidate should have the ability to identify and/or address pertinent issues independently and be able to provide relevant feedback, efficiencies or resolutions.

  • Strong work ethic & professionalism.

Compensation Annual Pay Range: $82,245 - $94,581 Annual Incentive Target: 10.00%
