Description:

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing - Pharmaceuticals position will lead category management efforts with a primary focus on pharmaceutical products, while also supporting other direct procurement categories critical to kidney care delivery (e.g., branded, generic, injectables, and specialty drugs; and devices, solutions, and ancillaries), with responsibility for direct sourcing and category management across chronic care, acute and home modalities. This role will collaborate closely with clinical teams, finance, legal, and pharmacy operations to shape and implement sourcing strategies that ensure product availability, manage cost, and mitigate risk in a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical and health care supply chain, strong negotiation and contracting skills, and a bias toward execution. Requires a high level of strategic and analytical thinking, project management, and organizational skills. The Manager has 5+ years of Strategic Sourcing and Category Management experience and must be able to drive projects from start through completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain extensive market knowledge across pharmaceutical and other kidney care product categories, including pipeline developments, FDA approvals, biosimilar launches, and manufacturer capabilities.
  • Lead end to end sourcing processes including RFI/RFP development, supplier selection, bid analysis, price modeling, negotiations, and contract execution for pharmaceutical and other direct procurement categories.
  • Create and execute category strategies that drive cost savings, ensure supply continuity, and align with clinical and operational goals.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing opportunities and align procurement strategies with patient care objectives.
  • Conduct spend analysis and market assessments to identify sourcing opportunities, cost drivers, risks, and contracting levers across pharmaceutical and other direct categories.
  • Lead contracting initiatives with a focus on compliance, reimbursement optimization, risk mitigation, and value-based sourcing.
  • Drive Village wide initiatives in supplier diversity, regulatory compliance, and sustainability in the pharmaceutical and direct space as needed.
  • Support drug shortage mitigation planning and supplier redundancy strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CMS reimbursement changes, TDAPA eligibility, and FDA regulatory requirements affecting pharmaceutical and direct category spend.

Here's what you can expect:

The position will focus on managing various direct spend categories, primarily related to pharmaceuticals and direct procurement categories for our nearly 3,000 clinical facilities. The position will partner with others on the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement teams on various projects and will focus on reducing spending and supply risk in a variety of direct spend categories, but the position will be largely coordinated with clinical and strategy teams in deciding which opportunities to pursue based on the needs of the Village. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills as they will be working with DaVita teammates and DaVita vendors across multiple functional areas that are not familiar with procurement. This will require a high level of strategic and analytical thinking, project management, and organizational skills. The team this manager will be a part of is relatively new, which provides an opportunity to build an organization from the ground up and will require comfort with ambiguity and the ability to communicate frankly with C-level executives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of business experience, or an MBA with background in contract analysis, supplier negotiation, and strategic sourcing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The position requires interaction with teammates in various departments and with supplier partners.
  • Experience developing and implementing category strategies, ideally in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, or a highly regulated environment.
  • Able to work independently to balance multiple tasks and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Experience leading end-to-end sourcing initiatives, including RFI/RFP development and competitive bidding processes
  • Strong strategic mindset and analytic skills - the ability to work with large amounts of data to drive strategic decisions.
  • Experience collaborating with clinical teams or stakeholders to ensure sourcing aligns with care delivery and patient outcomes (preferred)
  • Excellent computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint & Word, ability to operate Tableau (building dashboards is not required but experience is valued)
  • Personal values in line with DaVita's values of Service Excellence, Integrity, Team, Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Fulfillment & Fun.
  • Ability to get the job done, push through obstacles, and take full accountability and ownership of work.
