Job Description:

Providing for loved ones, planning rewarding retirements, saving enough for whatever lies ahead - our policyholders count on us to be there when it matters most. It's a big ask, but it's one that we have the power to deliver when we work together. We collaborate and innovate - pushing one another to transform not just Pacific Life, but the entire industry for the better. Why? Because it's the right thing to do. Pacific Life is more than a job, it's a career with purpose. It's a career where you have the support, balance, and resources to make a positive impact on the future - including your own.

We're actively seeking a talented Sr. Derivatives (Collateral) Analyst II to join our Collateral Operations team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE.

As a Sr. Derivatives (Collateral) Analyst II you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by supporting the team's operational excellence by managing complex workflows, resolving valuation and collateral discrepancies, and driving process improvements. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of several people in the Investment Operations division. Your colleagues will include analysts and fellow derivatives professionals. This team collaborates closely to ensure operational accuracy and efficiency across all collateral processes.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Lead and support daily collateral management processes, including variation margin (VM) and initial margin (IM) workflows.
  • Manage the daily valuation reconciliation process for OTC and exchange-traded derivatives, ensuring data accuracy and prompt resolution of pricing discrepancies across internal and external sources.
  • Investigate and resolve breaks across collateral, valuation, and settlement workflows by working closely with custodians, counterparties, and internal teams.
  • Serve as an escalation point for operational issues, providing guidance and resolution support to junior team members.
  • Assist in onboarding new team members, accounts and products, ensuring operational readiness and system integration.
  • Drive the optimization of scalable platforms such as Acadia, Calypso, and ePAM to support growing transaction volumes and regulatory demands.
  • Develop and maintain reporting using tools like Business Objects, Calypso, and internal data warehouses.
  • Participate in system upgrade testing and contribute to automation and straight-through processing (STP) initiatives.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Legal, Accounting, Treasury) and external vendors to troubleshoot and implement operational improvements.
  • Respond to audit and ad hoc requests, ensuring timely and accurate information delivery.

The experience you bring:

  • 6+ years of experience in investment operations, preferably with a focus on derivatives or collateral.
  • Proficiency in Calypso, ePAM, Acadia, and familiarity with Business Objects and Bloomberg is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently resolve operational issues and lead initiatives and projects.
  • Strong understanding of OTC derivatives, including futures, cleared and bilateral swaps, options, swaptions, and cross-currency instruments.
  • Experience with trade or collateral processing, reconciliations, trade confirmations, and payment processing.
  • Ability to mentor junior analysts and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a focus on risk mitigation and operational control.

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience leading process improvement or automation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI and PowerQuery for data analysis and reporting.
  • Clear and concise communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/STAT/IFRS) as they relate to investment operations.

You can be who you are.
