What you'll be doing...

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely filing of State and Local Gross Receipt Tax Returns (which are similar to Corporate Income Tax Returns).

  • Perform analyses of revenue, deductions and exemptions on a monthly and annual basis.

  • Responsible for pulling and reviewing statutes, regulations and laws to determine accurate taxability for filings.

  • Query and import data from external databases into Excel.

  • Investigate and explain month-over-month variances by analyzing data and working with other business groups when necessary.

  • Manage tax calendar to prepare assigned returns accurately and timely in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and rulings issued.

  • Identify savings opportunities and look for ways to streamline processes.

  • Perform special projects, as required, assigned by Senior Manager in a timely manner.

  • Work with research and planning team where necessary to investigate and comply with new return requirements by state and local taxing authorities.

  • Liaison and partner with various Teams both within and outside the Tax Department including Tax Legal, Tax IT, Revenue Accounting, Billing, etc.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience in preparing or reviewing federal, state and local corporate income tax returns.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • CPA or Masters degree in taxation.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet and comply with deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience with large data volumes and Excel extensions (ie: Alteryx, PowerQuery, and Power Pivot).

  • Experienced with SAP or other major accounting systems.

  • Tax research and audit experience is a plus.

Where you'll be working

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $74,000.00 - $121,000.00.
