STAFF PSYCHIATRIST POSITION AT MCLEAN HOSPITAL

McLean Hospital, America's top ranked freestanding psychiatric hospital, is inviting applications for a Staff Psychiatrist, full-time or part-time in the Proctor House inpatient unit, in Belmont, MA. The incumbent provides psychiatric and substance use disorder evaluation, diagnosis and treatment; formulates individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses; conducts routine forensic evaluations as needed (e.g., commitment, guardianship); and directs the ongoing care of patients.

Half-time (0.5FTE) as a covering staff psychiatrist on a 21-bed withdrawal management inpatient unit (Proctor House 1), with the expectation that work shifts will be concentrated during summer vacations, holidays, school holidays, conference and sick leaves. The other half-time (0.5 FTE) providing outpatient clinic services, and residential treatment MD/APRN coverage as needed episodically.

Principal Duties:

* Provides clinical services including pharmacotherapy (including substance-specific medications such as MOUD/MAUD) and psychotherapy.

* Communicates with other providers of mental health and medical services as appropriate.

* Maintains contact with family members as appropriate.

* Documents in the record by the completion of treatment plans, patient encounter forms, appropriate progress notes, clinical summaries and other documentation in accordance with hospital policies.

* Provides interface with payers and managed care organizations through the completion of timely and effective reviews and necessary authorizations.

* Participates in program and hospital administrative activities (e.g. staff meetings, CQI, hospital committees, etc.)

* Maintains awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues.

* Participates in the hospital teaching and research efforts.

* Available on-call by phone with remote orders access for active patient care needs.

Qualifications:

* M.D. degree (or equivalent as confirmed by ECFMG)

* 3 to 4 years formal residency education in a program approved by the RRC of the ACGME.

* ABP&N eligible or certified psychiatrist.

* License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of MA.

* Independent DEA license and MA controlled substance license.

Salary and recruitment package in accordance with Hospital policies, and a Harvard Medical School appointment at the academic rank of Lecturer, Instructor or Assistant Professor (full or part time) will be contingent on meeting the requirements for an HMS appointment and candidate qualifications, including Massachusetts medical license and being board certified/board eligible.
