The US Oncology Network is looking for an Information Technology (IT) Manager - Richardson, Texas to join our team! The position schedule is M - F, 8:00am - 5:00pm with occasional after-hours work.

What does the IT Manager do do?

Provides service and support to ensure efficient, appropriate maintenance and administration of company's client server system. Typically in a practice with a minimum of 35 physicians and/or 15 locations. Participates in needs assessment, product evaluation, policies and procedure development, curriculum design and development, security administration, implementation planning, conversion planning and verification, vendor liaison activities and user satisfaction assessment. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):

- Responsible for support organization over a large population of users across multiple sites and markets:

  • Recruits, develops, and supervises technical staff of 3-10 technical professionals. Provides recurring feedback to team members including annual reviews per US Oncology practices.
  • Plans technical staff coverage for the in scope locations to ensure support levels.
  • Maintaining all on-site computer equipment including personal computers, servers, terminals and printers.
  • Technical leader and example for team in performing installation and upgrades on Windows Servers and PCs, peripherals such as modems, video card, CD-ROM, network printers and tape drives. Reviews and recommends purchases and/or upgrades on various hardware and software components in alignment with US Oncology IT policies and standards.
  • Exhibits advanced end user IT support and troubleshooting skills for questions and system problems. Provides advanced user IT support as needed when required. Handles escalations toward other support teams and owns the outcomes.
  • Installing and supporting specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computers.
  • Maintains all warranty records for local computer equipment.
  • Maintains all fax and modem lines including expediting phone system repairs and/or updates in coordination with corporate telecommunication.

- Versed in foundation concepts of ITIL; handles change management for in scope markets and technical staff; monitors service levels and manages to targets.

- Works closely with US Oncology corporate Information Technology groups on setting and enforcing standards, policy and procedures development, security administration, implementing and upgrading hardware and standards, and monitoring/troubleshooting production equipment.

- Responsible for the PC lifecycle for in scope sites including but not limited to: planning replacements, proposing budget, ordering, receiving, updating asset management system, installation, ongoing maintenance, planning for retirement, system retirement and certified asset disposal

-Evaluates current and future data processing requirements as related to existing processor and communications hardware; coordinates all aspects of evaluation, procurement and installations of system hardware.

- Coordinates corporate implementations providing local technical assistance on office moves, new site implementations, and office expansions.

- Develops detailed Project Plans and coordinates major projects involving Information System and construction.

- Responsible for market level support of clinical specialty systems including but not limited to LAB, Radiation, EMR, and others; coordination with vendors and other internal support teams; ongoing updating of the application; creating, updating, and troubleshooting of data interfaces.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field.

Or

Associate's Degree + Four (4) years of related work experience

Or

Eight (8) years of related work experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in systems operations and PC environment systems experience.
  • Proven experience as an IT manager or similar role in a healthcare or medical practice setting.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare IT systems, such as EMR/EHR, PACS, clinical and practice management software.
  • Experience replacing system hard drives, video cards, and memory required.
  • Computer networking experience required.
  • Personal mode of transportation between sites is required
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • A+ Desktop certification and Microsoft Certified Professional preferred
  • ITIL v3 experience preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 60 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Work Environment

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require minimal travel by automobile to office sites (subject to reimbursement by policy).
