Job Overview

Reporting to the University Registrar, the Deputy Registrar provides critical leadership to the University Registrar, university leaders and the campuses at the intersection of technology, business process, and policy for the office of the University Registrar. Advises the University Registrar and senior-level constituents on aspects of data management, student records maintenance, technology enhancement and the implementation of new initiatives. Interprets the academic needs of the University to ensure that technology and business processes support Georgetown's goals, policies, standards, and critical functions. Manages concurrent university-wide projects and oversees technical and functional integration of multiple systems.

The Deputy Registrar is a higher education and SIS subject matter expert, thought leader, and functional expert on all functions of the Registrar's Office. Charged with representing the range of interests and concerns of the University Registrar in all areas including protection and integrity of the student record (e.g. FERPA), compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements (e.g. immunization, program registration etc.), evolving institutional needs, data stewardship, and business functionality enhancements and concerns. The Deputy will engage with key university stakeholders in the planning of student academic information organized in the technical infrastructure including off-site programs and innovative ways of managing information and data.

Work Interactions

This position reports to the University Registrar. This is a high visibility and high-impact role engaging all functional aspects of the Registrar's office, and related impacts with other campus offices across academic and student affairs. Manages multiple projects to support the University poised for strategic programmatic growth engaging multiple stakeholders to deliver integrated technologies. Strategic implementation, standardization, and rationalizing the delivery of student academic enterprise-wide processes and services. Advises on all Student Services issues with a focus on university-wide initiatives. Will serve as project manager for campus-wide initiatives. The Incumbent will Interact both in person on campus and remotely, by video conference, phone, and via email with students, the Office of University Registrar staff, Georgetown University faculty members and deans, Student Affairs and external stakeholders.

The Deputy Registrar will lead and provide functional and policy guidance to university stakeholders. The Deputy Registrar advises on all aspects of best practices in Registrar's Office function including data management and analysis, student information systems (Banner expertise preferred), FERPA and other compliance-related mandates such as IPEDs and National Student Clearinghouse reporting requirements, NC-SARA membership participation, Curriculum accreditation and registration requirements local/state/federal, coordinate the publishing of the University Bulletin, enrollment management (particularly prefer experience with enrollment cap management), training and documentation, with project management and team supervision.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A master's degree and 6-8+ years of experience in higher education are required; A Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a large multifaceted university setting may substitute as equivalent for a master's degree
  • Experience managing high visibility projects with multiple internal and external constituents required
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize projects with attention to detail, excellent communication with high-level constituents, and management of complex issues with technical and functional teams as needed
  • Must be able to lead Effectively and work independently while maintaining close contact and communication with the University Registrar and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and organizational needs
  • Proven ability to work with and act as translator among multiple constituents from the most senior level to technical staff
  • Ability to work as a member of a team within the Office of the Registrar while maintaining independent responsibility for a variety of projects and initiatives
  • Prefer experience with Banner, Degree Works, EMS, Cognos, MS Office Suite, Google AppExtensions
  • Project management methodology knowledge is desired

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
