What to Expect
Tesla's Battery Materials Team is looking for a highly motivated individual to be an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician for a novel battery chemical plant near Corpus Christi, TX. I&E activities include supporting equipment in development, installation, commissioning, retrofitting and production. This role will work closely with engineering (mechanical, process, electrical and controls) to handle fast paced challenges in an innovative design space.
What You'll Do
- Small scale electrical and instrumentation installation for low voltage applicationsand troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation designs for packaged equipment
- Commissioning low voltage electrical and control systems and ensuring equipment runs as designed
- Minor PLC code change based on Engineer instruction
- Schematic revisions using ePlan and Autocad
- Collaborate with relevant teams to determine optimal locations to install hardware
- Basic mechanical assembly tasks including: bolting brackets, cover and using basic hand tools
- Support engineers as they iterate on system designs by providing direct feedback on how systems can be installed and functioning more effectively
What You'll Bring
- 4+ years working with industrial automation systems
- Ability to work with minimal supervisionand to handle multiple tasks with differing priorities
- Experience with instrumentation including flow, level, pressure and temperature measuring devices
- Experience with analog control valves and discrete on/off valves,starters and VFDs, and familiarity with cable tray, conduit and cable installation
- Knowledge when working with low voltage (24 VDC - 480 VAC) power distribution, cabinet design, fabrication and commissioning
- Familiarity with using electrical instruments: DMM, scope, Network analyzer, and mechanical tools for diagnosing and repairing equipment
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, up stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs., including the ability to carry 50 lbs. up and down stairs
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: Safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respiratory protection, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
- Ability to work at heights with appropriate fall protection equipment
