As a Global Sales Training Director supporting Training & Development Team, you will lead the development and execution of strategic training initiatives for our intraocular lens (IOL) and cataract consumables portfolio. This role is critical to driving commercial excellence and ensuring our global sales teams are equipped with the clinical knowledge, product expertise, and selling skills needed to succeed in a competitive ophthalmic marketplace.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Design and implement global sales training programs focused on IOLs and cataract consumables, aligned with commercial strategy and product launches.
  • Partner with regional sales leaders, marketing, and medical affairs to identify training needs and develop tailored learning solutions.
  • Lead the creation of training content including clinical education, product positioning, competitive differentiation, and selling techniques.
  • Deliver engaging training sessions via in-person workshops, virtual platforms, and e-learning modules.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve programs based on feedback and performance data.
  • Support onboarding of new sales representatives and ongoing development of tenured teams.
  • Stay current on industry trends, clinical advancements, and competitive landscape in ophthalmology.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent messaging and alignment across global markets.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD. +6 yrs)
  • 10 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership
  • Proven ability to translate complex clinical and technical information into effective training materials.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a global or matrixed organization.
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
  • Travel requirements: up to 30% International and Domestic

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in medical device sales, preferably within ophthalmology or surgical specialties
  • Experience in sales training or commercial excellence roles
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Experience with LMS platforms and digital training tools.
  • Multilingual capabilities a plus.
  • Passion for improving patient outcomes through education and innovation.
