Hemodialysis unit that cover 5 patient bays over 3 facilities of Wayne, Taylor and Trenton hospital. Providing complex care to the inpatient hemodialysis population of patients receiving hemodialysis. Patient population that consist of in-room treatment, bedside treatment along with treatments in the ICU. Equipment that is portable, with quality care at attention. Great communication within the department, the team and especially the physicians.

Scope of work

Hemodialysis Assistant is mainly responsible for pulling cultures from machines, and changing filters. In addition, the assistant provides the services of an Observer for any patient who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs water and machine checks, maintenance, culturing, cleaning or disinfection to maintain standards based on specific unit requirements. Prepares hemodialysis machines/equipment including bicarbonate for set up. Cleans/disinfects hemodialysis machines and surrounding areas after dialysis is completed.

Qualifications

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association, Upon Hire required
