Job Title: Health Information Technician - Release of Information Location: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Torrance, CA Job Summary The Health Information Technician is responsible for performing specialized health information activities related to the organization, maintenance, privacy, and release of electronic and paper patient health records. This role ensures compliance with HIPAA regulations and Cedars-Sinai policies while facilitating accurate and timely release of medical information to patients, providers, and legal entities. Key Responsibilities * Process requests for medical records using EPIC's Release of Information (ROI) module. * Verify patient identity and authorization before releasing records. * Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding patient privacy and data security. * Coordinate with internal departments and external requesters to fulfill ROI requests. * Maintain high standards of accuracy and timeliness in record handling. * Educate requesters on confidentiality and privacy regulations. * Use electronic fax systems and PDF tools for secure transmission of records Required Qualifications * Minimum of a High School Diploma. * At least 2 years of experience in healthcare administration or medical records. * Proficiency in EPIC, Salesforce, CareConnect, Cerner, and other EMR systems 4. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. * Familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards. Preferred Skills * Experience with patient intake, insurance verification, and authorizations. * Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare workflows. * Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Work Environment * On-site role at the Torrance location. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
