Overview:

Sentara College of Health Sciences is hiring for an Associate Professor for Nursing Program!

Sign-on bonus of $5K offered to qualified candidates!

Status: Full-time,permanent position (40 hours)

Position Location: This position is on-site for residents of VA or Northeastern NC and includes 2x a week clinicals and 3x week teaching online/academic advising/scholarly work. Sentara College of Health Sciences is located at 1441 Crossways Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23320.

Standard Working Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00PM (ET).

Position Summary

Provides classroom and or clinical instruction to students in Sentara's health science programs. Uses interactive and innovative teaching learning strategies in both on ground and on-line courses. Responsible for the development of faculty in both the classroom and clinical settings. Responsible for student tutoring, advising and support as required and participates in department and college committees as assigned. Collaborates with the community to support and facilitate research, participates in research as it relates to teaching and keeps current in evidence-based research as it relates to classroom and clinical instruction of students.

Education:

  • Masters in nursing, nursing education or education appropriate to subject matter being taught REQUIRED

  • A terminal degree, DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice), PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) or EdD (Doctor of Education) is preferred

Certification/License:

  • Registered Nurse License (RN) - Nursing License - Compact/Multi-State License REQUIRED

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years recent professional experience REQUIRED

  • Minimum of 3 years previous teaching experience in a BSN or allied health program OR demonstrated consistent positive feedback from students; conducted research to enhance body of knowledge in the discipline REQUIRED

  • Clinical experience in adult health (ICU, medical-surgical, stepdown) preferred
