Position Title: Payroll Associate

Department: Finance

Reports to: Payroll Director

Location: Manhattan, NY/Hybrid-Flexible
Schedule: M-F 35 hours (Full-time)

Position Overview:

The Payroll Associate performs duties necessary to ensure the timely process for the organization's bi-

weekly payroll utilizing Workday software.
Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for multiple pay groups, ensuring compliance
  • with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Process new hire documentation and verify payroll records ensuring all taxes and deduction are
  • accurate and in compliance.
  • Verify and input employee data, including hours worked, tax information, and other relevant
  • details into the payroll system.
  • Assist in processing wage garnishments, deductions, and other special payroll transactions as
  • needed.
  • Support in Time and Attendance processes and ensuring all absences and PTOs are up to date.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in generating and distributing payroll reports and statements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized payroll records, both physical and electronic documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll regulations and tax laws to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct audits to ensure accuracy and maintain data integrity.
  • Provide support to leadership team for various payroll inquiries
  • Payroll projects and other duties, as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of payroll principles, tax regulations, and wage laws.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive payroll information with
  • discretion.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field of study or Payroll Certification with 5 years of equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of progressive payroll experiences.
  • Experiences in Workday is strongly preferred, but not required.


Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Will constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a
  • calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Will frequently communicate over video calls with internal and external stakeholders
