Job Title: Turning Operator


Summary: Machine Operator is responsible for operating CNC lathe and/or milling machine. Loads and inspects parts, changes offsets and tooling.


Starting Wage: $19.00



We offer a 2nd shift differential of $2.00 per hour and 3rd shift differential of $3.00 per hour



The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. At NTA Precision Axle, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.


Essential Job Functions



  • Machine Operations - Check specs, load/unload production lines.
  • Utilize measurement tools such as pre-set gauges to verify quality of production.
  • Perform visual inspection of parts.
  • Make necessary offsets.
  • Change/adjust production tooling.
  • Complete forms recording production results.
  • Daily preventative maintenance, remove and dispose of chips/shavings, replenish fluids/lubricants,
  • Comply with ISO 16949 & 14001 requirements, safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas - perform 5S cleaning responsibilities.
  • Reads job instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements

Job Requirements



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; demonstrated ability to add and subtract decimals with high degree of accuracy.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to automated or robotic equipment
  • Must be able to read and interpret piece part drawings and make decisions regarding part quality and offset changes.
  • Must have experience in machining and using measuring tools such as drop indicators, dial bore gauges, plug gauges, fixture related pin gauges.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment running multiple production lines, prioritizing tasks to maximize efficiency.
  • Able to maintain regular and predictable attendance, work overtime and weekends as needed.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection are required in the Manufacturing Plant.


Physical Demands




    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; hazards common to industrial settings; chemicals, vibration, and loud noises.
    • Safety shoes, safety glasses, chemical resistant gloves and bump caps for this position must be worn on the production floor. Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
    • Jobs on the production floor require a minimum 40-hour workweek. Overtime may be required.
    • The pace of work is steady and fast.
    • Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
    • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.



This position requires sufficient vision to see details at close range, so the person can pass an inspection test of finished parts and components.
