Job Summary:


The Operations Manager - Assembly position manages local scheduling and real-time operations that facilitate the maximization of resources (human and automated) to achieve customer satisfaction, productivity, schedule adherence and business goals.


Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions of the Job:


Safety



  • Drive a culture of safety in line with company goals and through leading by example in all areas of safety.
  • Partner with members of safety teams to manage risk and improve processes.
  • Hold employees accountable while evolving best practices through continuous improvement.


Talent Management



  • Drive operational efficiency and transactional discipline mindset throughout your organization.
  • Develop staff by coaching, counseling, mentoring, motivating, and training direct reports using a continuous improvement approach while holding employees accountable and monitoring progress.
  • Employ a variety of communication strategies to improve employee engagement and ensure employees understand, are regularly updated, and aligned on the business and business objectives.
  • Empower supervisors to evaluate and develop knowledge, skills, and abilities of their talent per business needs.
  • Collaborate with other departments and corporate management to improve cross functional communication and operational efficiencies.
  • Develop a high performing organization through the recruitment, development, and retention of the team.


Quality/Continuous Improvement



  • Provide leadership towards continuous improvement in both quality and productivity.
  • Reinforce cross functional collaboration across the organization
  • Understand and utilize KPI's to provide visibility to employees and drive change.
  • Participate in data analysis to drive results and identify root cause.
  • Establishes and maintains good housekeeping practices throughout facility - create a system so there is a place for everything, and everything is in its place, establish orderly flow, eliminate waste, organize the workplace, and sustain established procedures; lead-by-example.


Productivity/Cost Controls



  • Monitor, control and communicate activities per agreed budget and KPI's.
  • Drive communication to ensure understanding of the business and strategic objectives through clear definition of roles and responsibilities.
  • Deliver on short- and long-term commitments.
  • Develop departmental budgets, resource plans, and ensure that there are the resources in place to act on them.


  • Achieve optimal performance in both productivity and quality through a strong quality and preventative maintenance focus



Job Requirements:



  • Education generally equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent practical experience), preferably in a manufacturing discipline.
  • Requires 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years of previous manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Education and/or experience in LEAN/5S is a plus.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform trigonometric calculations.
  • Requires a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with all levels in the organization.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routings.
