The Laminating Production Assistant is responsible for assisting with the safe operation of the laminator to produce material, which meets current quality standards at optimum rates and yields. This responsibility includes the performance of those tasks necessary to achieve proper laminating operation, such as:

* Setting up the patch section of the laminator according to specifications of each order.

* Performing quality checks and documenting results in accordance with standard operating procedures,

* Maintaining a safe clean work area,

* Communicating and cooperating with others in the best interests of Cryovac,

* Performing other duties as required for achieving the goals of the department.

* Loads and unloads rolls of patch material
* Inspects incoming material for quality for visual and measurable attributes.
* Cleans rollers according to S. O. P.'s.
* Tape rollers according to S. O. P.'s.
* Pump glue into the glue pan and glue reservoir.
* Properly and safely threads material through the laminator.
* Adjusts the gap between the coater roll and back-up roll to achieve proper coat weight.
* Adjusts web guides for proper roll alignment.
* Performs quality checks throughout the production of an order peel strength, coat weight, and material width- patch etc. Verifies material against standards.
* Continually monitors quality by observing the material while the laminator is in operation.
* Assures that materials, equipment, and supplies needed to produce each order are available well in advance of need and are of acceptable type and quality.
* Follows SOP's and SOC's to eliminate loss of time and damage to equipment, materials, and supplies used in the laminating operation.
* Reports to coordinator when factors adversely affecting quality or output appear to be beyond the operator's control, or equipment is in need of repair.
* Accurately reports material usage and return to inventory into data collection and inventory systems using mainframe computer terminal.
* Accurately weighs and records scrap. Weighs and properly labels any material being returned to inventory.
* Performs all tasks required to insure a safe, clean, orderly work area at all times.
* Follows safe work practices and observes the practices of others in the area to prevent injuries to all individuals.
* Notifies operator and assists to correct quality deficiencies as soon as problems are suspected.
* Operates specialized equipment necessary for the proper function of a laminator.
* This includes various lifts and scales, peel strength tester, analytical scale, glue pump, and mainframe computer terminal.
* Performs patch bin location balancing and research discrepancies
* Performs other duties as requested and/or directed by coordinators.
* Puts scrap into proper containers for removal from department.
* Reports all equipment malfunctions.
* Maintains SOC, quality data collection forms, and rate check forms.
* Maintains statistical quality control graphs on key tape attributes.
* Cleans glue totes as needed.
* Performs other duties as directed
* Performs product and facility sanitation duties as assigned
* Follow all applicable EHS, Quality and Food Safety procedures and protocols, and reports any incident to his/her supervisor.
* Complete all EHS, Quality and Food Safety applicable training.
* Support implementation of the Quality and Food Safety program and comply with the expectations if this role is included as part of the Food Safety or Internal Audit team.

* Experience in Converting and Manufacturing, preferred
* Knowledge of Sealed Air systems such as SAP, Symple, Verification System (VS)
* Overall Laminating operational knowledge
* Word and Excel processing skills, including charting
* Good Writing skills
* Great ability to multitask
* Must possess an aptitude for using a computer
* Great oral communication skills and teamwork
* Follows Plant Safety Rules
* Follows Department Safety Rules
* Maintains an Acceptable Attendance Record
* Performs Other Duties as Directed by Lead Technicians, GPL, or VSL.
