Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Data Governance Lead to join our Analytic Center of Excellence. In this critical role, you'll be responsible for establishing and maturing our data governance framework. Your work will ensure the standardization, quality, integrity, and security of our data assets, which are essential for our business operations, strategic decision-making, and compliance with regulations. This role requires both a strategic leadership approach and direct technical execution. It is perfect for a strategic thinker capable of hands-on execution who understands the unique challenges of the healthcare payer landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Framework: Assist in the implementation, and oversight of the enterprise data governance framework, encompassing policies, standards, and procedures for data quality, security, and master data management (MDM).
  • Data Stewardship: Establish, manage and participate in a data stewardship program, including engaging with data owners and data stewards across the organization. You will also facilitate regular meetings to review and resolve data-related issues.
  • Data Quality & Remediation: Actively design, implement, and maintain data quality checks and profiling scripts using governance tools. Perform root cause analysis on critical data issues across member, provider, and claims domains, and drive technical remediation plans with engineering teams.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all data governance activities align with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and other relevant industry standards.
  • Training & Communication: Drive organizational change by creating and delivering training on data governance principles and best practices. Foster a culture of data literacy and accountability.
  • Metadata & Data Cataloging: Serve as the technical owner of the data catalog platform. Responsibilities include defining and documenting metadata standards, validating data lineage, and ensuring consistent technical and business term mappings for critical data assets.
  • Policy to System Translation: Directly translate approved data governance policies into functional rules and controls within our data systems and tools. This involves hands-on configuration and validation to ensure policies are actively enforced.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field, with at least 4 years in a leadership or lead role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Proven experience in the healthcare payer industry is required. A strong understanding of member, provider, claims, and related healthcare data is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with data governance tools (e.g. Collibra, Informatica). Strong ability to write and interpret complex SQL for data validation, profiling, and quality monitoring is required.
  • Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HIPAA and other healthcare data privacy regulations.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional change management, conflict resolution, and consensus-building skills. Proven ability to influence and guide stakeholders across business and technology teams to adopt new data standards.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
