Overview

NaphCare is hiring a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Local Government to join our team of Executives, based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL.

The Chief Nursing Officer is a Registered Nurse with advanced studies and executive management experience in the practice, regulation and clinical standards of nursing. The Chief Nursing Officer provides strategic direction, ensures quality, accountability and fiscal responsibility for nursing throughout the company and has the ultimate nursing authority, responsibility and accountability for the practice within the Nursing Service Program.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of NaphCare's COO, the Chief Nursing Officer ensures nursing practices align with the organization's strategic goals. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

    Leads in planning, priority setting and the development/revision of nursing practice policies and procedures for health care activities that comply with facility and contractual requirements (as applicable) and ACA, NCCHC and State standards.
  • Establishes the development, provision and evaluation of patient care according to the standards of nursing practice (as applicable in the state in which the facility is located)
  • Ensures the practice of nursing is consistent with current national/state/local standards and is responsible for level of care.
  • Leads and participated in evaluations designed to improve work conditions and maintain patient care. Working with Quality/Risk Improvement evaluates CQI initiatives for effectiveness.
  • Active oversight and member of the corporate Quality/Risk Improvement and Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee(s) and regularly attends all meetings.
  • Is a member of the corporate Infectious Disease Control Committee
  • Active working relationship with corporate clinical medical services in order to establish and maintain clinical care standards.
  • Serves as nursing authority and/or liaison for corporate nursing services to other corporate departments/divisions or outside entities as applicable
  • Establishes corporate nursing credentialing, orientation, in-service training, and continuing education in coordination with corporate HR/Operations
  • Establishes recruitment/retention strategies and tracks turnover rates for nursing service. Works with HR to assist sites/contracts with nursing turnover above established goals
  • Prepares/submits reports as responsible for other Executives/Board of Directors in a timely manner
  • Conducts meetings with nursing management to ensure operations goals are met


Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Graduate degree in nursing or other healthcare management field
  • 5 years of progressive executive nursing management experience in clinical settings. (Emergency Room, Communicable Disease, with Medical and Surgical experience preferred)
  • Have and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse within their applicable state.
  • Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a verity of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations
  • Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations
  • Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details
  • Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis

Physical Demands:

Must have the physical and mental capacity to work in an environment that may be less than pristine, as well as manage and maintain physical and mental health when encountering stressful situations.
