JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Entertainment Studios is seeking a Director of Development, Scripted Drama. We are looking for a motivated and creative executive with experience in the development and sales of television programs. Reporting into the scripted series development team, the Director, Scripted Drama will work across a television slate representative of our FES brand with the support of the drama team.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop quality series for FOX and third-party buyers.
  • Source and evaluate screenplays, shows, books, articles, life rights, concepts, sizzles, pitches, and short-form content - as well as other forms of IP -to build and help sustain a robust TV pipeline that aligns with department and overall company strategy and goals
  • Manage slate of projects from development through sale and greenlight
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with external players, including talent (writers, directors), producers, buyers, and representation
  • Work with studio BA to aid in negotiation around script option/purchases
  • Maximize in-house IP and Talent synergies across FOX's departments, including Unscripted, News UK, and Animation
  • Work closely with the Current and Physical Departments to ensure the quality of shows
  • Assist with pitch materials to sell concepts to various linear networks and streaming partners
  • Work closely with the VP, Drama Development to define the department

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 7+ years of experience in scripted development
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Network of industry contacts
  • Up-to-date knowledge of various network/studio trends
  • Meticulously organized and able to multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Final Draft, Zoom
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professionalism, discretion, and good judgment in all interactions with co-workers and industry professionals
  • Knowledge of television workflow.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills, above-average ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Understanding of the international market

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $102,000.00-130,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
