COPAL, Communities Organizing Latine Power and Action, is a member-based organization established in 2018 to improve the quality of life of Latine families. Grounded in the Principles of Jemez, COPAL is committed to continue building meaningful relationships that transcend both identity and geographical boundaries. Wages

$26.00 - $29.00 per hour

Benefits

Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), plus eight paid holidays per year and two floating holidays; cell phone stipend provided; competitive health plan with BlueCross, BlueShield of MN, dental, and vision insurance offerings: Health Savings Account (HSA). There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employees. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and short- and long-term disability insurance. COPAL sponsors a retirement plan with 6% employer contribution after 90 days of service and immediate vesting.

Schedule

This position offers a hybrid work environment and flexible scheduling.

As COPAL's Grants Writer, you'll collaborate with the Grants Manager to research funding opportunities, craft persuasive proposals and reports, and track funder communications-helping secure the resources that drive our programs and community impact.

Responsibilities



  • Draft, edit, and submit grant proposals that help COPAL secure resources to advance our mission.
  • Write compelling funder reports that showcase program outcomes, community impact, and data insights.
  • Ensure all communications reflect COPAL's voice, mission, and commitment to equity.
  • Proofread and format proposals and reports to maintain high-quality professional standards.
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities to expand our support network.
  • Prepare prospect profiles and collaborate with the Grants Manager and Development Director to guide strategy.
  • Track deadlines, guidelines, and submissions to keep proposals on schedule.
  • Maintain organized records of proposals, funder communications, and reporting schedules.
  • Compile budgets, financial statements, and program data in partnership with finance and data teams.
  • Support funder relationships through thank-you letters, updates, and event materials.
  • Assist with funder check-ins, site visits, and cultivation events to strengthen partnerships.
  • Represent COPAL in meetings and public settings, sharing our mission and programs.
  • Contribute to cross-departmental projects that enhance organizational impact and capacity.



Who You Are



  • You have experience in grant or technical writing, nonprofit fundraising, communications, or journalism.
  • You have experience in prospect research and/or using fundraising databases (EveryAction preferred).
  • You are a strong storyteller with excellent writing and editing skills, able to translate complex program and financial information into clear, compelling language.
  • You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple deadlines.
  • You are committed to equity and aligned with COPAL's mission.
  • Preferably, you hold a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet COPAL's driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
