Description

A Boiler & Refrigeration Technician IV job is available in Paterson, WA based out of Columbia Crest Winery. The Boiler & Refrigeration Technician IV performs a variety of specialized, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, operations, upgrades, and repairs of systems related to refrigeration, heating, and utility systems. Under minimal supervision this position ensures maximum operating efficiency to key utility systems needed for the wine making and bottling process. This position operates and maintains systems that fall under regulatory compliance laws and require participation in the emergency response team. This role requires a willingness to work all shifts, hours, and locations across Eastern Washington.

Boiler & Refrigeration Technician IV job responsibilities include:



  • Report to work on time and maintain attendance in accordance with SMWE guidelines.
  • Participate in the Emergency Response Team, including fit testing and readiness protocols.
  • Understand and apply safe work practices including LOTO, elevated work, confined space, ARC flash, hot work, and electrical safety (NEC).
  • Follow safety procedures set by SMWE Environmental Health and Safety and regulatory agencies such as EPA, OSHA, WISHA, FDA, AHRA, NEC, and PSM.
  • Participate in the PSM Team, including development and documentation of operating procedures.
  • Pipefitting, soldering, brazing, and mechanical alignment of motors, gearboxes, and pumps.
  • Rebuild pumps, blowers, compressors, and other components.
  • Perform calculations for system operations including flow rates, temperature differentials, and thermal loads.
  • Use thermal imaging, meters, and test equipment for preventive maintenance.
  • Plan and execute layouts for piping, electrical, and equipment installations.
  • Collaborate with outside contractors to fulfill facility utility needs.
  • Document all work and hours in the CMMS system; write work requests, parts requests, and complete work orders.
  • Follow preventive maintenance plans, SOPs, and scopes of work as assigned.
  • Train and mentor lesser-skilled technicians while promoting industry best practices.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Write maintenance plans for refrigeration, boiler, gas, and utility systems.
  • Demonstrate a track record of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Initiate and contribute to projects that enhance equipment and production efficiency.
  • Attend company-provided and vendor training sessions, both on-site and off-site.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including tasks typically handled by lesser-skilled technicians.



Position Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Has successfully completed RETA 1, RETA 2 or GCAP programs.
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in a winery, food processing facility or similar environment involving the responsibilities as outlined above.
  • Ability to manage inventory and stock items within CMMS; preferred experience with JD Edwards Enterprise One.
  • Experience with water treatment systems for boilers, condensers, potable and wastewater.
  • Familiarity with AC/DC electrical systems, including low-voltage DC and 3-phase 480V.
  • Knowledge of VFDs, electrical motors, and control systems related to refrigeration and utilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems, steam boilers, and related utilities.
  • Ability to read and create piping diagrams, PIDs, and instrumentation schematics.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend/stoop, squat, kneel, climb, twist, push heavy objects, pull/jerk objects, work at heights, waist and below waist level, lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work extended hours and rotating schedules including night shifts and weekends.
  • Ability to work indoors in an industrial plant setting in temperatures of 60-65 degrees and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.



Your Compensation:

$32.81 - $42.65/hr. based upon relevant experience.
