As a key professional within the IDEA Center, the Student Success Coordinator independently plans, coordinates, and implements a comprehensive range of programs and services that support the academic, professional, and personal development of engineering students at the Jacobs School of Engineering. This position requires an experienced professional with a deep understanding of student development theory, counseling practices, and the unique challenges faced by underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation college students in engineering.

The Student Success Coordinator provides multicultural academic counseling across disciplines and colleges, with a particular focus on students from "at-risk" populations, including those who are first-generation, underrepresented in engineering, or experiencing academic difficulty. The incumbent conducts comprehensive needs assessments, analyzes academic and non-academic barriers to success, and provides individualized, theory-informed solutions and strategies to promote retention, persistence, and overall student success.

Using a student-centered and data-informed approach, the Student Success Coordinator independently delivers one-on-one advising, small group facilitation, and course-integrated interventions to help students develop academic, personal, and professional skills. As appropriate, the coordinator refers students to university and community resources and cultivates a strong network of faculty, staff, alumni, and industry professionals to support student success and belonging.

In collaboration with academic departments, faculty, and college leadership, the Student Success Coordinator helps resolve complex student academic issues and advocates for inclusive and equitable student support. The position has a lead role in supporting students in the IDEA Scholars Program and student organizations advised by the IDEA Center and the Dean's Office. The Coordinator designs and facilitates leadership development opportunities and provides mentorship to both undergraduate and graduate students to strengthen academic identity and professional trajectories.

The Coordinator manages all logistics for these events, including participant registration, speaker coordination, catering, facilities, risk management, and health and safety compliance.

A key responsibility includes full administration of the IDEA Center's summer transition programs, with emphasis on the Summer Engineering Institute (SEI). This includes curriculum development, onboarding of students and caregivers, and coordination of pre- and post-program transition documents, assessments, and evaluation. The Coordinator oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of student teams, including Peer Facilitators and program assistants, to support program delivery. The Student Success Coordinator supports and participates in department-sponsored and campus-wide initiatives such as the Ring Ceremony, Engineering Community Welcome, Transfer Prep, Welcome Week, and Triton Days. The Coordinator ensures that IDEA Center services and daily operations remain student-centered, collaborative, and responsive to the evolving needs of the engineering student community.

In addition, the Student Success Coordinator contributes to the development and dissemination of program communications, including websites, academic journals, brochures, and marketing materials that promote IDEA Center initiatives.
