What to Expect

The Factory Manufacturing Training team is looking for a motivated and energetic Instructional Designer who wants to put their skills to use in accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. This is an onsite position.

The Instructional Designer will support the overall Fremont Factory Training initiatives. This is a hands-on, boots to the ground content creation position that will require various creative skills and acumen to aid a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will be expected to challenge and to be challenged, to create, and to innovate. These jobs are not for everyone, you must have a genuine passion for producing the best vehicles in the world. Without passion, you will find what we're trying to do too difficult.


What You'll Do
  • Create interactive, clear, and error-free content, including but not limited to training guides, e-learnings, training visuals, and presentations, while keeping up to date with current trends in Learning and Development
  • Partner directly with subject matter experts to design and develop engaging content for a variety of audiences and delivery modes (online, webinar, etc.) with clear strategies and tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes
  • Manage training development project initiatives, operationalize training standards, and track content deliverable metrics
  • Engage with other Tesla Factory content experts, and act as a liaison between multiple groups to solve gaps in training using methodical processes such as ADDIE
  • Be accountable to timelines and adapt to changes, priorities, or scope as needed
  • Recommend different applications or layouts that would improve user experience in the current trainings and provide content guidance to junior level teammates

What You'll Bring
  • Minimum of 5 years in designing and developing training curriculum, with work or educational background in technical and/or engineering concepts

  • Curiosity to understand Tesla's strategic priorities and how learning and development can address workforce skill and knowledge gaps

  • Comfortable in fast-paced environments, able to structure communications amidst ambiguity, and proficient with MS Office products

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with an open collaborative style to work in teams or autonomously with minimal supervision, and ability to handle ambiguity and shifting priorities

  • Expertise in tools like MS PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and TechSmith Camtasia; proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) is a plus

  • Must provide an eLearning portfolio or demonstrate ability to create high-quality eLearning products, alongside experience in web-based training, technical writing, and standard guides

  • Must have command of English language, both written and verbal

    Expected Compensation
    $64,000 - $144,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
