Reporting to the Provost, this founding Dean will create and execute a unifying vision for research and graduate education - growing existing programs, expanding support for undergraduate research, and strengthening a culture of discovery that fuels EWU's mission as a polytechnic university. The Dean will lead the Office of Grants and Research Development and the Graduate Programs Office, championing research excellence, securing external funding, and building partnerships that extend EWU's regional and national impact.

With a focus on equity, access, and student success, the division provides essential services and programs that support students' academic, personal, and social development. The Senior Director of First-Year Students will play a pivotal leadership role in this mission, driving strategic initiatives that enhance student transition, engagement, and retention. Your Impact The Dean of Graduate Studies and Research serves as a key academic leader responsible for advancing Eastern Washington University's research enterprise and strengthening graduate education across disciplines. This inaugural role brings together the leadership of the Office of Grants and Research Development (OGRD) and the Graduate Programs Office, positioning the Dean to align institutional priorities in research, innovation, and graduate student success. Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean provides strategic direction for expanding externally funded research, supporting faculty development, enhancing graduate education quality and enrollment, and ensuring compliance and research integrity. The Dean also plays a central role in cultivating partnerships with industry, government, and community organizations in alignment with EWU's mission as the region's polytechnic university.
