We are seeking a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) to support a strategic benefit digitization initiative. This role is critical in ensuring standardized, accurate, and consistent coding practices that align with benefit interpretation and administration across multiple markets.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Standardized Coding Implementation:
    • Apply formal and consistent coding standards to interpret and digitize benefit structures
  • Procedure & Service Code Grouping:
    • Develop and maintain groupings of procedures and service codes to ensure accurate benefit alignment
  • Code Maintenance:
    • Update and manage quarterly and annual industry standard code updates as well as benefit plan updates throughout the year
  • Benefit Coding Support:
    • Execute standard coding for benefit administration across diverse markets
    • Provide customized coding solutions for nonstandard benefit requests from internal and external stakeholders
  • Mandate Compliance:
    • Ensure coding aligns with regulatory mandates and support updates as required
  • Consultation & Support:
    • Respond to general coding inquiries and provide expert guidance to project teams and business partners
  • Project Collaboration:
    • Actively contribute to cross-functional project workstreams, offering coding expertise to support successful implementation

Required Qualifications:

  • Certified Professional Coder (AAPC or AHIMA)
  • 3+ years of experience with coding and reimbursement methodologies (e.g. CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, CMS,)
  • 3+ years of managed care experience
  • Has previously worked or is currently working as a contractor placed at UHG or one of its subsidiaries or affiliates
  • Intermediate to advanced level in the use of MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active unrestricted RN license
  • Worked with UHC benefits
  • Claims or Medical Management experience

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to analyze and translate data to develop recommendations for action plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Flexible with a solid ability to multitask.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
