Job Summary: |
CU Anschutz is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused HR Specialist to join our Central HR Operations team. In this dynamic role, you will serve as a key point of contact for faculty, staff, and campus partners seeking HR services, guidance, and support. Key Responsibilities:
Utilizes foundational HR knowledge to serve as a primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate resolution through collaboration with subject matter experts across HR functional areas. Provides operational support for strategic HR initiatives and events, including but not limited to HR chatbot program, the annual Years of Service and Staff Awards recognition event, Benefits Fair, Block Party event, etc. Oversees the management of multiple HR inboxes and communication channels, ensuring consistent alignment with customer service standards and operational priorities. Interprets and applies the University of Colorado's retention record and data classification policies, providing guidance to departments on compliance and best practices. Administers the online document management system for campus personnel records, including document scanning, indexing, and serving as the system's instance administrator. Reviews and interprets employment verification requests, human capital management (HCM) data, and university classification policies to prepare and deliver accurate and confidential employment verifications. Facilitates honorarium and leave transfer processes by coordinating with departmental HR representatives, state agencies, and central HR subject matter experts to ensure timely and compliant execution.
In addition, this position is uniquely situated to provide support to campus governance through Staff Council coordination. This includes:
Collaborates with Staff Council Executive Committee on priorities, initiatives and needs. Maintains the official repository for Staff Council documents including minutes, resolutions, shared governance participation, committee rosters, and historical participation. Develops standard operating procedures documents. Supports the planning and executing annual and special elections, including onboarding of new members. Coordinates scheduling and logistics for committee meetings, including guest outreach and attendance management. Facilitates effective Staff Council communications under the direction of the Staff Council Executive Committee, including Teams channel oversight and inbox administration, ensuring timely and professional correspondence.

Work Location: |
Hybrid -This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of two (2) days per week on-site, and as needed for meetings, projects and/or special events. Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance, including in-person presence as scheduled, is an essential function of this role. |

Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications:
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Minimum of one year of experience in HR, customer service or administrative support role or equivalent experience. This position is not eligible for university-sponsored work authorization. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future university sponsorship. Individuals with existing, valid U.S. work authorization are welcome to apply.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an institution of higher education or a similar complex public employer organization. Experience supporting multiple functions or programs. Experience providing HR transactional support. Experience coordinating events, meetings, or recognition programs Experience managing shared inboxes and communication workflows in Microsoft Outlook and Teams Experience with online records management. OnBase records management system or similar experience a plus. Experience working with HR systems -human capital management (HCM) system, applicant tracking system, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Ability to take initiative and provide proactive support. Outstanding customer service skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to multitask or switch tasks frequently. Ability to research questions and seek answers. Ability to work independently and follow established protocols. Comfortable working in a structured, process-driven environment.

Anticipated Pay Range: |
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $50,000 - $53,000 annually. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
