Job Summary: |
The Department of Neurology has an ongoing need for an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist) with strong values and unique skills for our Neurovascular Section. This position will provide both acute and chronic direct outpatient care to patients with neurologic disease, especially patients with neurovascular disease (stroke). Successful candidates will have a proven track record in supporting the needs of patients, developing differential diagnoses, and prescribing treatments in collaboration with leading specialty providers. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, communicative, proactive, caring, detail-oriented, organized, able to think critically, focused on quality, and dedicated to personal growth. The position is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Hours will vary depending on clinical schedules, other duties, and Department/Hospital needs, though will generally involve eight half-day clinics per week. Specialty This APP will work in the Department of Neurology's Neurovascular Section, which consists of several physician providers, fellows, and APPs. This position provides outpatient care in the University of Colorado Stroke and Brain Aneurysm Center (SBAC) and will engage and collaborate with colleagues across the Department of Neurology, University of Colorado Hospitals, and external constituents. Examples of Work Performed * Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: * Screen, evaluate, diagnose, manage medications, and provide disease counseling * Acute and chronic outpatient care of patients with neurological disease, particularly stroke, including symptomatic therapy, disease-modifying therapy, and health maintenance care * Serves as first contact for clinician level patient communications * Engages in collaborative team-based care to make informed decisions for patient care * Support and engage in continual learning and development among nursing staff, physician assistants, pharmacy staff, medical students, and neurology residents * Periodic educational presentation of lectures to patients and others |

Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. * Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist Degree * License to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain a license to practice in Colorado * Experience completing documentation and performing tasks routinely assigned in medical settings using complex electronic record systems, or the background, ability and willingness to learn Preferred Qualifications: * Two (2) or more years of significant experience working with patients with neurologic disease * Desire to work with patients with acute, chronic and, sometimes, severe illness(es) * Significant experience working with patients with stroke and/or managing chronic diseases in a subspecialty setting * Significant experience in primary care medicine, especially managing cerebrovascular disease and lifestyle risk factors, post-stroke complications and mood disorders Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work independently, and collaboratively within diverse team structures * The desire and ability to build strong, compassionate and respectful rapport with patients, consistently putting patient safety first * Dedication to confidentiality, professionalism, collegiality, life-long learning, quality and attention to detail * A high level of professionalism and collegiality * The dedication and ability to follow best practices in clinical care, research and education * Critical thinking, adaptability and flexibility * Experience with electronic medical record systems, web-based tracking systems and Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access) |

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: $99,819 to $137,696 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
