TITLE: Packaging Operator - Second Shift

LOCATION: Alsip, IL

SHIFT & HOURS: 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday: 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Hiring Hourly Rate: $22.42/Hr.

2 Year Earning Potential Based on Continuous Learning Progression Pay

  • 6 Months - $23.18/hr
  • 12 Months- $23.96/hr
  • 24 Months- $24.72/hr

Griffith Foods is hiring a Packaging Operator to join our Production Team. The Packaging Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the set-up, operation, adjustment, and clean-up of packaging equipment to contribute to the production of high-quality food products in compliance with company standards.

As a Packaging Operator your responsibilities will include:

  • Completes production reports documenting performance; enter transactions into RF equipment
  • Adjusts equipment during operation to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met
  • Dumps product into hopper for filling
  • Performs change-over by setting up auger, funnel, tubing and former for specific lines and/or product
  • Cleans and washes line and equipment
  • Load and set film or units for form fill machines
  • May manually pack units into cartons; affix label carton; stack cartons onto pallets; operator a forklift as required
  • Reports any product quality deviations or mechanical failures to the utility person or team captain
  • Cleans work area and equipment at end of shift
  • Adherence to all department procedures and GMP's.
  • Ability to maintain all performance standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Packaging Operator position may be right for you if you:

  • Reviews packaging work order and obtains correct product, packaging materials and equipment set-up
  • Inspects and cleans work area prior to beginning operation and at shift end
  • Inspects and adjusts equipment prior to beginning operation
  • Ability to safely operate Packaging equipment while consistently producing a quality product and adhering to company policies.
  • Ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

Qualified candidates will have:

Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Language Skills -Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to communicate with individuals and small groups. Ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge or the ability to gain knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX and RedZone software.
  • Training/Performance:Must be able to complete the initial Alsip Mixer Operator Training check list and must be able to complete all tasks successfully as documented on the position scorecard.

  • Working overtime as needed throughout the week, up to and including Saturday work.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk to communicate and listen effectively. This will require both office and plant environments. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Safely navigate stairs and ladders

Environmental Concerns:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud; hearing protection is required in designated areas. Dust and odor present in environment.

Candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
