Function:

Engineering and Engineering Services Job Summary:The Chief Process Engineer leads the Process Engineering group at the Woodward Complex, serving as the site's technical expert. This role ensures safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant operations across production units. The Chief Process Engineer promotes engineering best practices, supports stakeholder needs, and fosters professional development within the team. Strong collaboration with Engineering, EHS, Operations, and Maintenance is essential for prioritizing work and allocating resources effectively. Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the Process Engineering team, overseeing daily activities, staff development, and support for operating units, storage, loading, and off-sites.

2. Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and sustainability, supporting corporate goals for workforce safety, greenhouse gas reduction, diversity, and community engagement.

3. Ensure routine monitoring of operating KPIs, working with Operations and Maintenance to identify and resolve performance deficiencies.

4. Oversee technical evaluations of catalyst and equipment performance, ensuring timely, sound, and economically justified recommendations-especially ahead of turnarounds.

5. Allocate engineering resources to resolve technical issues, collaborating across Operations, Maintenance, and other disciplines with a safety-first approach.

6. Provide technical oversight on capital projects, ensuring safe, high-quality, and cost-effective execution aligned with design standards and timelines.

7. Ensure timely resolution of action items from PHAs, audits, and Operating Standards, maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

8. Identify and develop improvement projects that enhance process safety, environmental performance, efficiency, and production capacity.

9. Maintain open communication with site leadership, aligning engineering priorities with operational goals and proactively addressing risks and threats.

10. Develop engineering talent, enhancing technical competency and work quality through mentoring, training, and strategic development.

Successful incumbents will have:

8. Solid analytical and troubleshooting abilities, paired with sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.

9. Proficiency in computer-based tools and systems relevant to engineering.

10. A collaborative mindset and willingness to work in a team environment, with good interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.

11. Passion for learning CF plant technologies and applying that knowledge to enhance operations.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (Chemical Engineering preferred).

2. Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing.

3. Preferred: 3+ years of experience with ammonia, urea, nitric acid, or UAN facilities.

4. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact across all organizational levels and clearly document technical work.

5. Demonstrated commitment to safety and experience working within a strong process safety management framework..

6. Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.

7. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
