POSITION SUMMARY

The Sommelier at the Stratton Mountain Club provides leadership and wine experience necessary to grow the financial success and service quality for food and beverage operations. The Sommelier ensures quality food and beverage production, exceptional service, and financial profitability with the focus on the wine program. This is a full-time seasonal position, compensated at $22.00/hour + commission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • This Position oversees the wine program for all outlets at the club and reports to the SMC Food & Beverage Manager
  • Development, implementation, & training of wine program
  • Responsible for all tableside wine service and selling in all F&B outlets
  • Tracks inventory and updates circulating wine list as needed
  • Collaborates with F&B Manager and creates creative ways of lowering current wine cellar inventory
  • Communicates and builds rapport with returning high-end clientele
  • Responsible for FOH training regarding wine service & selling
  • Help provide a positive work environment for all Stratton Employees
  • Works in conjunction with the Executive Chef to ensure Stratton high standards of food quality are being upheld
  • Takes an active part in weekly SMC meetings to ensure accurate forecasting
  • Works with F&B Manager and Executive Chef to identify areas of opportunity for future growth and development
  • Works with beverage vendors to ensure continued high-end inventory in wine rooms
  • Additional duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • 3+ years of experience working closely with wine, building a wine program, and/or selling wine
  • Experience as a leader of with emphasis on coaching and training
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, organized, detail oriented, enthusiastic, outgoing and reliable
  • Microsoft Office and F&B systems experience, a plus
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record in creating and maintaining a courteous, friendly, professional team environment
  • Forward thinking with a willingness to adapt, learn and take on new responsibilities
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
