Overview

As a Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our project. The Systems Superintendent oversees the installation, testing, and commissioning of all project systems, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, design specifications, and safety standards. This role coordinates with engineering, quality, and construction teams to ensure that systems work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project milestones.
What you will be doing
Supervise daily field operations related to systems installation, including communications, signaling, traction power, and electrical distribution.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, system integrators, and field engineers to maintain schedule and quality compliance.
- Review and interpret system drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure accuracy and constructability.
- Oversee system testing, inspection, and commissioning activities in collaboration with the QA/QC and Safety departments.
- Monitor productivity, enforce site safety, and ensure compliance with all project procedures and WMATA safety requirements.
- Support interface coordination between civil, track, and systems contractors to resolve field conflicts.
- Maintain detailed daily logs and progress reports, documenting labor, equipment, and material usage.
- Verify installation quality and as-built documentation for system components.
- Support troubleshooting during system integration and assist in the development of turnover documentation.
- Lead and mentor foremen, field engineers, and craft personnel assigned to systems work.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience required.
- 3+ years construction management experience required.
- Bachelor's Degree a plus.
- Strong background in rail, transit, or transportation system installations (signals, traction power, communications, etc.).
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), WMATA standards, and related rail systems codes.
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Proven leadership skills with ability to manage field teams and subcontractors.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Experience with Primavera P6 and construction management systems preferred.
- Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
