Position Overview
The SOE (Support of Excavation) / Micropile Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily site operations related to installation of micropiles, shoring, underpinning, and other support of excavation systems. This role ensures that work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications, drawings, and industry standards. The Foreman leads crews, manages equipment and materials, and works closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Leadership

  • Lead and supervise field crews in the installation of micropiles, SOE systems, tiebacks, anchors, and underpinning works.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide hands-on guidance to crew members.
  • Ensure compliance with project drawings, technical specifications, and safety procedures.


Technical & Operational

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, pile layouts, and shop drawings.
  • Oversee micropile drilling, casing installation, grouting, load testing, and pile cut-off.
  • Coordinate with surveyors to ensure pile locations and elevations are set out correctly.
  • Manage excavation, bracing, lagging, and support installation for SOE projects.
  • Troubleshoot site challenges and provide practical solutions to maintain productivity.


Safety & Quality

  • Enforce company and OSHA safety standards on site at all times.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety inspections.
  • Ensure quality control in drilling, grouting, and reinforcement placement.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of work performed, manpower, and equipment usage.


Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and engineers to meet schedule requirements.
  • Coordinate deliveries of materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and resource needs promptly.



Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of field experience in foundation construction, micropile installation, SOE systems, or related geotechnical work.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory/foreman role is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of micropile drilling techniques, grouting, anchors, underpinning, and shoring methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, geotechnical reports, and construction drawings.
  • Solid leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA certification (30-hour) or equivalent safety training required.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot drilling rigs and related equipment is an asset.



Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily outdoors in construction site environments.
  • May involve night shifts, weekends, or extended hours depending on project needs.
  • Must be physically capable of working in demanding site conditions.


Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation)
Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds on a frequent basis; prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing into equipment is required daily. A full range of arm, hand and leg motions are required to operate construction equipment. The ability to move through job site. Work is performed outside, occasionally in environments that are dusty, noisy, cold, or hot. Near-vision acuity is required to inspect repairs and maintenance, read blueprints, manuals, and other similar documents and adequate far-vision for spotting for approaching equipment.
