Job Details:
Mercer University is searching for an Administrative Support Associate for the Student Support Services department within the TRIO Programs on the Macon, GA campus.

Responsibilities:

Provide high-level administrative and clerical support to TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) and other TRIO program staff, assisting with program operations, data management, student interaction, and event planning. These federally funded positions require strong organizational, communication, and computer skills, as well as a commitment to supporting first-generation and income-eligible students in their pursuit of postsecondary education. The position works under direct supervision.

Duties include:

40% - Administrative Support:

Answer phones, manage procurement and expense reporting, order supplies, coordinate office space, and maintain department websites and other public relations activities.

30% - Student & Visitor Interaction:

Greet students and parents,, provide information, and maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

15% - Data & Record Keeping:

Enter data, maintain program records, organize files, and assist with grant reports, adhere to privacy regulations, such as FERPA, and maintain the confidentiality of student information.

15% - Event & Program Support:

Assist with the organization of events, manage logistics for the TRIO Peer Mentoring Programs, and support program outreach efforts.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma/GED and two years of administrative support experience, which may include bookkeeping or financial reporting experience are required OR one year of college coursework and one year of relevant experience.

Additionally, relevant experience can include working with federal, state, and higher education policies and procedures, and experience providing support services to first-generation and limited-income populations.

Previous experience in higher education or with student support services is strongly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Microsoft Office Suite (word processing, spreadsheets)
  • Ability to learn student information systems (e.g., Anthology, BLUMEN is preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication, as well as customer service.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and cordially with student populations and to establish and maintain working relationships with representatives from outreach sites, area secondary and post-secondary schools, and community agencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and work independently.
  • Proficiency in data entry.

This position is contingent on external funding and the length of employment in this position is dependent on continuation of these funds.
