Summary


Join a fast-paced, operations-focused team for a hands-on internship that delivers real impact. As a CI Intern, you'll support and own projects that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance visibility across key manufacturing systems and workflows.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities




  • Collaborate on and lead scoped projects aligned with Toyota Production System (TPS) principles.


  • Assist with implementation and auditing of 5S+Sprograms, including PDCA cycles and visual management.


  • Support Kaizen eventsby gathering data, participating in root cause analysis, and presenting findings.


  • Investigate operational issues and implement sustainable resolutions using RCCM methodology and A3 reports, in close collaboration with CI and Operations teams.


  • Build or enhance visual management dashboards(e.g., for takt time, OEE, or operator utilization).


  • Present progress and insights to site leadership at regular intervals.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:



  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


  • Exposure to or interest in manufacturing environments, CI frameworks, and data-driven problem solving.


  • Experience with or coursework in Continuous Improvement, Lean Methodologies or Six Sigma preferred.


  • Familiarity with tools such as the following, preferred:


  • Microsoft Excel


  • Tableau, Power BI or other dashboard/visualization tools


  • A3 problem solving, Fishbone diagrams, Andon systems, or PDCA cycles



Education and Experience



  • Pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.


  • Prior hands-on or project-based work in process improvement or operations preferred.



Physical Demands - OFFICE / TRAVEL




  • Standing/Sitting 50/50 %


  • Walking/Bending/Stooping 25%


  • Lifting Requirements: 25 pounds


  • Travel by air, rail, auto (25% of time)


  • Work in manufacturing area, QA lab and office areas


  • Exposures - Odors, Fumes, Noise, Chemicals, Temperature, Vision strain, Moving parts.
