Slingshot Aerospace
United States
Oct 28, 2025

What You'll Do

The Senior Product Manager - Platform is a strategic individual contributor who owns the foundational systems, APIs, and developer-facing services that power Slingshot's platform. This role bridges infrastructure, data architecture, integration strategy, and developer experience-ensuring our systems are scalable, performant, and well-aligned with product and customer needs.

This PM works directly with engineering and data science teams to map backend capabilities, improve data integration workflows, and document platform architecture. They will also own the developer API experience-making it seamless to discover, access, and integrate with Slingshot's data and capabilities. Additionally, they serve as the product liaison for backend and frontend development performance, helping ensure the entire system meets industry standards for quality and responsiveness.

We're looking for a systems-minded product leader who brings strong technical fluency, architecture awareness, and a proactive approach to building a world-class platform.

Slingshot Aerospace cares deeply about our commitment to company values, mission, and purpose. The core competencies we will be looking to identify include: intellectual agility, ability to develop innovative solutions, leadership, performance-orientation, and industry expertise.

  • Maintain clear, accessible documentation of system architecture, service capabilities, and integration readiness.
  • Support platform planning through capability mapping, dependency identification, and service audits.

Developer Experience & Integration Enablement

  • Own the end-to-end product experience for developer-facing APIs-including access, onboarding, usage, and documentation.
  • Ensure our APIs and platform services are intuitive, performant, secure, and designed for integration at scale.
  • Collaborate with engineering to improve developer workflows, internal tooling, and external partner enablement.
  • Act as the internal advocate for high-quality developer experience across the product lifecycle.

Execution & Lifecycle Ownership

  • Write technical product requirements for APIs, internal services, telemetry systems, and data pipelines.
  • Partner with engineering leads on sprint planning, technical trade-offs, and implementation timelines.
  • Support quality assurance and performance benchmarking for both backend and frontend systems.
  • Document system capabilities and readiness to support audit, compliance, and roadmap visibility.

Instrumentation & Performance Metrics

  • Collaborate with engineering to define and track performance metrics (e.g., latency, throughput, responsiveness).
  • Lead initiatives to improve development performance across both frontend and backend layers.
  • Help set internal benchmarks aligned with modern SaaS and data product expectations.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Influence

  • Serve as the connective tissue between platform engineering, data science, user-facing PMs, and GTM teams for product.
  • Translate technical insights into clear product documentation and platform decision support.
  • Ensure backend and system architecture choices reflect business value, user needs, and integration clarity.

Pre-Requisites

  • Must be eligible to obtain or maintain US Government Security Clearance, preference given for active TS Clearance.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of product management or technical product ownership experience focused on APIs, platforms, or infrastructure.
  • Strong technical fluency in backend systems, developer workflows, and data architecture.
  • Experience working directly with engineering and data science teams to deliver system-level capabilities.
  • Proven ability to manage developer-facing products and contribute to performance benchmarking.
  • Excellent documentation, system mapping, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience managing APIs, SDKs, or data pipelines (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake) in a product or technical PM role.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architecture, observability tools (e.g., Datadog), or developer enablement platforms.
  • Exposure to compliance-heavy or performance-critical domains such as aerospace, defense, or enterprise SaaS.
  • Prior work involving capability audits, internal tooling, or developer documentation governance.
