Summary

The Lead Data Management Architect (Customer Success) serves as a strategic and technical advisor within Workiva's Data Management Practice. This role supports customers and partners through onboarding, implementation, and adoption of Workiva solutions, applying expertise in data management, integration, and automation to deliver long-term value. Acting as a bridge between Sales, Engineering, and Customer & Partner Experience teams, the Architect helps organizations realize the full potential of Workiva's platform while staying aligned with evolving industry trends.

In this role, the Lead Data Management Architect serves as a collaborative partner to our Customer Success organization with a focus on accelerating time to value with the Workiva platform and maintaining overall Data Management product satisfaction. By fostering strong relationships, guiding best practices, and enabling self-sufficiency, the Architect ensures reliable, high-quality solutions and measurable business outcomes that drive lasting success with Workiva solutions.

What You'll Do

Strategic Relationship and Adoption:

  • Cultivate a strong, collaborative relationship between the Data Management Practice and the global Customer Success organization

  • Partner with Customer Success to define and execute adoption strategies at scale, identifying technology utilization patterns and expansion opportunities for Workiva's Data Management Suite

  • Drive customer and partner success by fostering product adoption, ensuring satisfaction, and demonstrating realized value through collaboration with Customer and Partner Experience teams

Consultation and Solution Delivery:

  • Serve as a technical leader in consulting engagements, collaborating with customers to understand their business needs, data requirements, and desired outcomes.

  • Analyze customer needs and recommend the optimal use of Workiva's Data Management Suite to achieve accurate, efficient, and scalable solutions.

  • Architect, oversee, and review data integration workflows between customer systems and the Workiva platform.

  • Architect, oversee, and review data queries and reporting solutions that meet customer analytical needs, including mentoring internal and external stakeholders on leading practices.

  • Conduct in-depth technical assessments of customer data management architectures, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for optimization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Partner with pre-sales and post-sales teams to ensure a cohesive customer experience, facilitating a seamless transition from the sales process through implementation services and full product utilization.

  • Provide leadership and direction to project delivery stakeholders, defining tasks, contributing to project plans, and monitoring progress.

  • Gather feedback from customer and partner interactions, sharing insights with Management, Product Engineering, and Product Management to influence the product roadmap.

Thought Leadership and Enablement:

  • Drive thought leadership and create high-quality, reusable content focused on scalable customer adoption and platform literacy (e.g., webinars, white papers, blog posts)

  • Lead knowledge sharing sessions with customer and partner application owners to enable self-sufficiency and ongoing success.

  • Accurately document new and existing data management features for internal and external reference

  • Proactively monitor customer and partner environments, staying current on the Workiva product roadmap to provide effective support and guidance

What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field of study, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or similar

  • 8+ years of experience in customer-facing roles, preferably Customer Success, Solution Architecture, or Consulting

  • 3+ years of experience serving as a technical lead or fulfilling a team lead position

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Customer Success Managers or post-sales roles to drive software adoption, expansion, and renewals

  • Experience integrating or managing Software-as-a-Service applications and enterprise systems, especially in the fields of Accounting & Finance, Audit, Risk & Compliance, or Sustainability

  • Expertise in various data structures and schemas from regulated industries (e.g., finance, audit, compliance, sustainability, etc.) with the ability to translate complex regulatory data requirements into intuitive, software-driven workflows

  • Experience integrating with or managing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Oracle, Workday, SAP, Sage, or similar; Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) systems such as Oracle, Planful, Anaplan, or similar; and Enterprise Data & Analytics systems such as Oracle, Snowflake, Power BI, or similar.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern data architectures (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure Synapse)

  • Prior experience with integration technologies such as Informatica, Microsoft SSIS, Boomi, Mulesoft, Workato, or similar solutions.

  • Knowledge of API design philosophy/patterns, communication protocols (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML), and encoding

  • Strong understanding of Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and ETL techniques

  • Ability to create, review, and troubleshoot queries using SQL.

  • Experience with Python for automation, with hands-on work and certifications preferred

  • Passionate about customer success and driving long-term customer value

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage time and prioritize demands.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with technical diagnostic ability.

  • Ability to build credibility and relationships with both business stakeholders and technical leaders at various levels

  • Ability to influence at all levels and in various departments

Travel Requirements & Working Conditions

  • 15% travel for customer and internal meetings

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office

How You'll Be Rewarded

Salary range in the US: $151,000.00 - $242,000.00

A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
