Job Requirements

The Software Engineer II supports the development and enhancement of a large-scale, cloud-based travel reimbursement platform. This role focuses on maintaining and extending API services that enable secure, reliable data exchange between multiple enterprise systems. The engineer will enhance and build new endpoints for the Travel Pay and Claim Ingest APIs, support integrations with enterprise financial and case management systems, and ensure compliance with security, performance, and quality standards. Working within an Agile delivery team, the engineer collaborates with designers, product owners, and fellow developers to deliver maintainable, well-tested, and scalable backend solutions that power critical user-facing applications

The Impact You Will Create:

This program supports a large-scale, cloud-based travel reimbursement platform that automates the submission, processing, and payment of travel claims for a national healthcare network. The team's work focuses on maintaining and enhancing a Microsoft Dynamics 365-based application that integrates with multiple enterprise systems and APIs to improve automation, reporting, and user experience. Staff will help design, build, and optimize workflows, data integrations, and system functionality to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable claim processing. Team members will collaborate across engineering, testing, and product functions to deliver new features, manage system performance, and support continuous modernization of the platform's architecture and services.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:

  • Maintain and enhance existing APIs, including the Travel Pay API and Claim Ingest API.
  • Design, develop, and implement new RESTful API endpoints to support evolving business and technical requirements.
  • Integrate backend services with enterprise systems such as CARMA, FSC, and iFAMS.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following project and organizational standards.
  • Implement automated unit and integration tests to ensure code reliability and performance.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve defects and performance bottlenecks across backend systems.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product owners to ensure alignment between business goals and technical solutions.
  • Contribute to technical discussions on architecture, implementation strategies, and process improvements.
  • Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Support deployment and monitoring of services in cloud-based and containerized environments (Azure, AWS, or similar).
  • Ensure adherence to security, authentication, and data privacy standards, including OAuth2 and SSO.


Work Experience

  • 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development using Node.js, Python, or .NET.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and backend microservices. * Familiarity with enterprise integrations and large system architectures.
  • Experience with cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization standards (OAuth2, SSO).
  • Experience with API documentation frameworks such as Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • Proficiency in source control using Git (branching, merging, rebasing, and pull requests).
  • Experience writing automated tests and maintaining continuous integration pipelines.
  • Experience developing applications in containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of Agile software development principles and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).

The salary range for this position is:

Minimum Salary: $91,554

Salary Midpoint: $119,020

Maximum Salary: $146,486

Hiring Range for Role: $91,554 - $123,500

*For part-time roles, the salary will be pro-rated based on the full-time equivalent salary ranges listed above.
