Sr. Software Engineer, IT Manufacturing

As a Software Engineer, you'll take part in the design, development, and deployment of applications/tools to automate/enhance Manufacturing Site Reliability Engineering (MFGSRE) processes and to better manage manufacturing systems. In this role, you'll be expected to take ownership of and develop solutions for complex problems, while closely collaborating with IT Manufacturing support teams. You'll be expected to move projects along at an aggressive pace and ensure the developed solutions are secure and scalable across our factories globally.

MFGSRE is directly involved in supporting and solving a diverse set of problems daily. Your contributions will directly support Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

• Identify requirements and develop/build new tools/applications from scratch
• Know your app! Seek to understand all aspects - business and technical - of the applications on which you work so that you can be the most effective
• Continue to learn and apply relevant software development practices, patterns, tools, and technologies
• Design and develop high quality, scalable, and distributed web application and/or backend services
• Design efficient/cohesive database schemas
• Create Jenkins-pipeline/GitHub-Actions and configure application for Kubernetes deployments
• Work with asynchronous tasks and implement mechanisms of caching
• Design easy-to-use web interfaces following Tesla design heuristics
• Utilize rest-API to communicate with backend application
• Follow Tesla's high standards for security-best practices in all development

• Ability to identify tasks which require automation and to automate them
• Familiar with network terminology/infrastructure (i.e., switches, gateways, firewalls, TCP/IP, VLAN, etc.)
• Ensuring security guidelines at every step of the development process
• Design and development experience with applications that require high availability, concurrency, multi-tenancy, scalability
• Detail-oriented, can identify and fix bugs, and write quality code that runs efficiently
• Full-Stack experience with Python/Go and a Front-end library (React preferred)
• Experience with web-frameworks like Django, Flask, FastAPI
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with SQL, Kafka, Redis
• Background in observability (I.e Splunk, Grafana, MetricsQL) is a plus
