Business Strategy Financial Lead

Overview

We are seeking a strategic, analytical and collaborative professional to join our EBS Strategy team. In this role, you will leverage your strong background in mathematics, finance or actuarial science to evaluate high-impact initiatives, develop robust business cases, and guide strategic investment decisions. You will collaborate across the enterprise to drive strategic alignment, enhance financial clarity and influence the future direction of Employee Benefit Solutions.

This role is ideal for a results-oriented professional who thrives on quantitative problem-solving, strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration to shape business outcomes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Strategic Initiative Evaluation

  • Lead the financial and strategic evaluation of major business initiatives that drive growth, enhance partner and customer experiences, and improve operational efficiency.

  • Develop comprehensive business cases using advanced financial modeling, actuarial analysis and scenario planning to inform funding decisions.

  • Educate and influence business leaders on the financial implications of strategic initiatives, providing clarity and confidence in decision-making.

  • Provide clear, data-driven recommendations on funding priorities based on strategic fit, financial impact and market relevance.

  • Champion a culture of strategic exploration and disciplined analysis within EBS by owning key business assumptions and promoting data-driven decision-making.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with business owners, finance, and technical teams to refine assumptions, validate inputs, and ensure consistency in strategic presentations.

  • Build trusted relationships across EBS and the enterprise through transparent communication and a collaborative, one-team mindset.

Market Intelligence & Trend Analysis

  • Monitor and interpret industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive performance within the employee benefits landscape.

  • Translate complex data into strategic insights that highlight emerging opportunities and risks, informing senior leadership on key strategic decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Statistics or a related field; Master's degree or actuarial credentials (ASA/FSA) preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, finance or actuarial roles with demonstrated experience in business case development and strategic analysis.

  • Proven ability to analyze complex data, develop financial models and synthesize insights into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate analytical findings for executive audiences.

  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, influencing without authority, and building consensus in complex environments.

  • Highly preferred experience in the employee benefits industry, with a passion for shaping the strategic direction of a dynamic and evolving business.

Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$105,000.00 - $196,000.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
