About the role

The Technical Accounting Lead serves as an experienced technical accounting specialist, leading complex technical initiatives and providing advanced guidance on accounting standards compliance. This role combines deep technical expertise with process leadership responsibilities, mentoring junior staff while driving process improvements and serving as a key resource for challenging technical accounting matters.

What you'll be doing

Advanced Technical Leadership & Process Development

  • Lead technical accounting expertise for complex areas including advanced lease accounting, revenue recognition, consolidations, and emerging accounting standards
  • Drive research and implementation of new accounting pronouncements, leading cross-functional project teams
  • Develop and maintain advanced accounting policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and compliance
  • Provide authoritative technical guidance on complex accounting matters to stakeholders across the organization
  • Lead evaluation of accounting implications for complex business transactions and initiatives

    Process Leadership & Technical Excellence

    • Lead technical accounting training programs and knowledge sharing initiatives across the organization
    • Drive technical capability building across the Technical Accounting team and broader organization
    • Lead process improvement initiatives for complex technical accounting workflows
    • Establish technical accounting performance metrics and quality standards
    • Champion automation and efficiency improvements in technical accounting processes

    Complex Corporate Functions & Project Management

    • Lead accounting for the most complex corporate functions and intercompany structures
    • Drive design and implementation of intercompany pricing models and allocation methodologies
    • Lead complex business combination accounting and purchase price allocation projects
    • Provide technical accounting support for M&A transactions, divestitures, and restructuring initiatives
    • Lead analysis of complex corporate cost structures and profitability models
    • Support Finance Accounting teams and FP&A with understanding of technical processes and their impact in the financials

    Advanced Audit & Compliance Management

    • Lead technical accounting discussions with external auditors and provide expert support for complex matters
    • Drive resolution of complex technical accounting issues and audit findings
    • Support Technical Accounting Principal in regulatory and HQ technical discussions
    • Lead internal control design and testing for complex technical accounting areas
    • Provide expert support for regulatory filing requirements and technical documentation
About you

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred, MBA preferred
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive technical accounting experience with demonstrated process leadership capabilities
  • Public accounting experience with senior associate or manager-level experience strongly preferred
  • Multi-entity and international accounting experience preferred
  • Track record of leading complex technical accounting projects and initiatives

Advanced Technical Skills

  • Expert-level knowledge of US GAAP, FASB ASC, and SEC reporting requirements
  • Advanced expertise in complex accounting standards including ASC 842, ASC 606, ASC 805, and consolidation guidance
  • Experience with advanced technical accounting research and position development
  • Proven track record with complex business transaction accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance requirements
